The Billboard In an age mired in neon, autotune and gimmicks, a new movement is being born. It is an uprising, a calling out, a declaration of war against the vapid, hollow, trend-hopping culture that has taken over what was once a great music scene. This movement is the return to real, honest, fun, music.
Combine late 90s and early 2000s pop-punk and post-hardcore sensibilities with a loud, modern twist, a touch of classic rock and a sense of urgency blatantly absent from so many other contemporary acts, and you have Arizona’s own Augustine. With influences dating back to bands like The Who and Tom Petty to The Get Up Kids, The Juliana Theory, Midtown and more, one would expect nothing less.
Augustine’s New Album “From These Ashes” contains 10 tracks of in your face pop-rock that sounds like nothing else you have heard, yet still sounds vaguely familiar. Produced by the infamous Jamie Woolford (Let Go, The Stereo, Punchline) the record packs a solid sense of honesty and is built around driving hooks and catchy melodies all wrapped in a raw, rock and roll package to create a sound that is a force to be reckoned with.
Augustine does not pull any punches, hop trends, or pretend to be something they are not. Augustine plays rock and roll the way they think it should be played, and the results speak for themselves. The scene is dead, long live rock and roll. Long live Augustine.
