Information |
The Billboard Daughters (frequently mislabeled ‘The Daughters’) is an intense mathcore band formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 2001, following the demise of another Providence-based mathcore band,As the Sun Sets. Their music is fast and experimental. Their drums commonly feature blast beats, their guitars a blur of high pitched squeals and fast fretting. With the release of Hell Songs, Daughters became more of a noise/experimental band, with vocals more reminiscent of The Jesus Lizard’s David Yow than traditional hardcore or metalcore vocalizing, and toured with bands like The Locust, Russian Circles, Young Widows, and The Chinese Stars.
They currently have three releases, starting with a self-titled EP, and two LPs, Canada Songs, followed by Hell Songs, released in 2006 on Hydra Head Records. In April 2009 Sargent House is re-issuing their Self Titled EP from 2002 with new artwork.
Nick Sadler the guitar player in Daughters also plays in a project named Fang Island, which is an instrumental band that seems to break away from their normal musical style.
