Reaping success in their native Orange County, California, Narwhal is an alternative rock group that’s taking their unique sound to audiences nationwide. With their infectious rhythms and live-show energy, there’s little to stop them.
After initially forming in Spring 2004, then fully coalescing the following December, the band devoted themselves to creating a high-energy dance atmosphere in each venue they played. The five band members –lead vocals/guitar Forrest Devitt, lead guitarist Jarret Killen, bassist Daneger, keyboardist Rick Schaier, and drummer Danny Quesada – wrote material and played live shows anywhere they could. Creating an early buzz with local fans, they went into Orange Crush Studio to record a five-song EP, Forrest Fire.
After promoting and selling over 3,000 copies, they were approached by Maloof Music (maloofmusic.com) and signed a development deal with Maloof Music/Interscope Records.
The band was soon ushered into the studio to record three new tracks produced by Trevor Keith, lead singer/producer of the band Face to Face, and Chad Blinman, engineer of The Get Up Kids (“Something To Write Home About”). The tracks were then re-mixed and re-mastered in the newly opened recording studio at The Palms by Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World’s Stay on My Side Tonight). On February 4, 2006 they released their first self-titled EP, which includes the tracks “Wide Awake,” “The Desert,” “On A Wagon,” “Cha” and “Vampires.”
Invited to open for Hoobastank at Club Rain in Las Vegas’ trendy Palms Hotel and Casino, Narwhal has since shared the stage with such artists as Yellowcard, Hot Hot Heat, Limbeck, Mae, Bayside, and even INXS. Not neglecting the fans that made it all possible, they’ve continued to play to packed crowds at their home venue, Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California.
Narwhal has recently come fresh off a two-week stint at the Vans Warped Tour playing the Kevin Says stage and a week long tour with Yellowcard. They are currently working on writing their full-length record to be released on Interscope/Maloof records in the spring of 2007. The band plans to headline a nationwide tour upon their first LP release.
