The Background

The American pop/rock band, The Background consisting of Vocalist Shaun Gunnels, Guitarist Kris Trevino, Guitarist James Gonzalez, Bassist Sean Bottoms, and Drummer Ray Baumgratz each spent time honing their craft in the local Dallas music scene eventually combining efforts as a full band. Together they released Your Friends EP in 2011, with catchy track "Okay" released in June, 2012 with a music video that has already reached over 8,000 views on YouTube.

Aside from their releases, The Background garned attention by playing shows with NeverShoutNever, Mae, Action Item, Cady Groves, Eisley, Lydia, The Dangerous Summer, and Sparks The Rescue. The band also played at SXSW 2012 in Austin, TX and at Six Flags Over Texas in August 2012.

As 2012 comes to a close, The Background will launch a new single called "Hands Up" on November 13, 2012. Baumgratz elaborates "We're always excited about what's to come. Day by day, if you can spend your time with friends working on something that means more to you than you even know; that's success."
