The Billboard Birmingham’s Light You Up have chosen 2012 to make their biggest impression yet on the UK alternative music scene, releasing their debut EP ‘Broken Jaw’ recorded with producer Romesh Dodangoda (Lostprophets, Kids In Glass Houses, The Blackout) this October. Carrying super-heavyweight single ‘Foxfire’, its gut-punch of melodic pop/punk rock should see fans of Futures, Deaf Havana, Jimmy Eat World and The Story So Far warming to it immediately.
With features in Kerrang!, Rock Sound, and Metal Hammer magazine already under their belt, Light You Up have spent the past 2 years honing their live show to perfection, touring with an impressive host of bands, including The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Yashin, A Loss For Words, Set Your Goals, Not Advised, Anti Flag, Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, The Starting Line, Hit The Lights, and many others.
October 2012 sees the band releasing their debut EP in the UK digitally via Great Escape Records, CD and vinyl with UK based Hang Tight Records and in Japan with premier pop-punk label Ice Grill$, before completing work on their as of yet untitled debut album which is slated for a 2013 release. The lead single/music video ‘Foxfire’ will be featured on the album, and has already led to the band receiving heavy airplay on Kerrang! Radio and being featured as band of the week on Bruce Dickenson’s (Iron Maiden) BBC radio show.
‘Broken Jaw’ is the first release featuring new front man Tom Napier, who brings a whole new element to the band. With the addition of his soulful and distinctive vocal range and character, the band finally seems to have found the perfect formula that they’ll take with them as they hit the road this autumn with A Loss For Words, Save Your Breath and Decade on a full UK tour.
The band will be adding further winter tour dates in both UK and Europe.
