Sitting in a hotel room outside of New York City, founding members James Mason (Vocals) and Jackson Wise (Guitar & Vocals) finished writing what would become The Vantage’s debut single “On My Way.” From that moment on they haven’t looked back, and are anticipating a long road ahead. The duo’s journey hasn’t been easy considering most of the creative process has taken place while living nearly 1700 miles apart.
The two met in 2009 when Jackson was recruited to play in their previous band, Safety Word Orange. It was there that they learned the ins and outs of building a band completely DIY, and developed a strong writing relationship. SWO has been featured in Alternative Press, played Warped Tour 2010 and 2011, and continues to have song placements in MTV programming.
The group disbanded in 2011 when James was offered a job in Austin, TX, but he and Jackson remained friends and continued to share ideas electronically. When the opportunity arose to record some new material with New Jersey-based producer, Rob Freeman, the two decided that they wanted another shot. The Vantage was born.
Fast-forward 8 months and the duo have recorded 8 songs, played the SXSW music festival, and have relocated Jackson to Austin, TX. The Vantage released their debut single “On My Way” on April 9th, 2013, and it has received over 25K plays within one month. With their 'Summer EP' set to release on May 28th, and a full-length record in the making, these guys have a rare drive and dedication to making music with the talent to match. Watch out for them because The Vantage is on the horizon.
