Reach was born out of the ashes of Boy Meets Machine, originally formed in Atlanta, Georgia, circa 2008. After making a stamp in the Atlanta music scene, and enduring several lineup changes, and some band turmoil, members Joel Monet (current singer) and Mike "Warrant" Mentz (former guitarist) headed back to their home state of Alabama to regroup. Joel Monet, began musically collaborating with (current lead guitarist,) Christian Colabelli over the internet around 2009, after the two were put in contact by a mutual friend. They wrote over two albums worth of material and quickly realized they had something special. Joel and Mike ultimately decided to relocate to Christian's home state of NJ in order to take another crack at making the band happen. The trio added drummer, Joe Nivare to the mix and started played regional shows. Mike ended up leaving the band. His departure along with a slight stylistic augmentation prompted the name change to Reach. Mike was replaced by current rhythm guitarist, Steve Swain. For the first time ever, the band is one big happy family!
