The band's fetus stage was in 2004 when multi-instrumentalist Mike Jimenez, brother/guitarist Matt Jimenez, and bassist Artie Marchain started recording on an 8-track in Matt's bedroom. Mike was relentlessly touring between 2002-2006 with his previous group Rufio (The Militia Group/Nitro Records), so*Science*Fiction*Theater's activity was limited to sparse moments in between Mike's hectic tour schedule. The band managed to book time with producer Shawn Sullivan in the summer of 2005 to get some decent demos recorded. The band completed 3 songs and released them online under the name*Science*FictionTheater. The songs were downloaded thousands of times and people began to take notice of the band as popular websites likeabsolutepunk.net, and various music magazines began to spread the post blogs and articles of the then "side project".

in 2006 Mike left Rufio to pursue*Science*Fiction*Theater*amon g other things. The then trio were joined by drummer Brian Marquez for 2 years while the band played it's first handfull of shows and wrote and recorded the 6-song EP CITY SAINTS. in 2007 the popular Los Angeles based radio station KROQ began spinning the song "June" off of the CITY SAINTS EP which helped the band build a local following. The band was in the studio with producer Shawn Sullivan (The Mars Volta, Reel Big Fish, Buchanan) all of 2008 and the first couple months of 2009.*Science*Fiction*Theater's debut full length was recorded over the span of 14 months in a giant empty warehouse that now is home to Shawn Sullivan's goliath recording studio World Class Audio. During the making of the album Brian Marquez was replaced on drums by Jojo Casillas (formally of the band Hopefield). The band also added multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Trujillo to the line-up.

Science*Fiction*Theater's album was mastered February of 2009 by Pete Lyman (Bloc Party, The Mars Volta) and self released in March. The album has been praised by music critics.*With little to no commercial push*Science*Fiction*Theater's debut album has already sold thousands of copies worldwide.*
