The Billboard Mark Rose is a singer/songwriter from Chicago, IL who plays his own blend of blues-infused rock and progressive pop. Front man & key songwriter for rock band Spitalfield from 1998-2007, Rose has made a name for himself as a versatile songwriter and performer. “If the name Mark Rose isn't familiar to you, clearly your MP3 collection needs an overhaul," says Rob Ortenzi of Alternative Press Magazine.
In and out of the studio, on and off the road, Rose is developing his sound and taking the next step of his career. On his newest release, "Separate" (June, 2010), Mark is taking things to the next level. "I hope to blend my music with my personality and push the boundaries of my comfort zone," Mark says. The new recordings do just that-- resulting in a singer/songwriter sound that leaves you somewhere between John Mayer & Phil Collins.
Mark studied music composition at Columbia College in Chicago for two years before signing a recording contract with Spitalfield in 2003 to Victory Records. The group disbanded at the end of 2007, but not before releasing three full-length albums, selling over 130,000 copies worldwide, and taking their music to the stage in nine countries on three continents. As one chapter ends a new chapter begins for the young musician, who is just 26 years old. “My goal is to make music I'm passionate about, and to give it my all. If it can stand up on its own, I've done my job. The rest is up to those listening to it.”
Mark has supported acts as diverse and illustrious as Third Eye Blind, Fall Out Boy, Plain White T's, Billy Talent, Sugarcult, among others.
