1. I got accepted into Valencia College in Orlando. Woot! It's official now.
2. I received my ACT scores that I took. I took them on a whim, and really, I was doing it for personal reasons, not to get into a school. The cool thing is, I actually did really decent on them. I scored a 22, which is just TWO POINTS shy of what I would have needed to be directly accepted into UCF (I had the GPA, just not the testing scores). What IS cool is that the other school I applied to last year, UNF, I can get into that school with the scores I have! Too bad I'll be living in Orlando instead of Jacksonville. But oh well. It's just another sign that I'm supposed to be doing this.
I got a 28 on the English (yes, I do kick ass, thank you), 17 on the math (yes, I'm horrible at...[read more] |
Great job on your ACT scores as well. Hopefully I do as well as you did if I ever decide to take them.
Thanks a ton, dude. It definitely was uplifting to see how well I did on something I barely studied for. haha.
Where are you attending school, currently? Pretty awesome you're interested in Graphic Design too man.
I'm not in school right now but I'm looking into going this year. I'm kinda of curious to see how well I could do on the ACT if it would help get me into a better school.
It's definitely worth the 25 bucks dude.
Any schools you have in mind?
Oh yeah there are some. There is a school close to me that seem likely but I'd rather go somewhere better. Its a sorta of wait and see deal. Any recommendations if you know any ?
Well, if you want to stay in Georgia, SCAD's the obvious choice. If you're looking to go elsewhere (not sure how far away you are from FL) UNF, UCF, Valencia, and Santa Fe (in Gainesville) are all solid schools for what you'd like to do. My cousin graduated from Santa Fe last year and is now living in Jax Beach working for Dalton Agency. They do all the Jaguars stuff. :)
Wow those are some great recs. Thanks.
Anything else are you gonna study at Valencia besides design? You seem like a good fit for photography.
Ha. Everything I know about photography and composing photos I've learned because I've had to sell the things and manage Digital Imaging for the past 3 years. So majoring/minoring in photography was never really a consideration, as it's more of a hobby than anything.
I'll be studying Digital Media design and development. Basically, that degree will give me the ability to work in any Digital Media field (web design, graphic design, video editing, audio editing, photo manipulation, dvd authoring, etc). The good news is I actually enjoy and do most of those things on a daily to weekly basis in my free time. As soon as I'm done at Valencia, I'll be transferring into UCF to get my Bachelor's in the same field.
When I get to UCF, I've thought about minoring in Philosophy or something interesting like that.
