Faking It
Faking It

Even in my 20's I feel nudged by my inner insecurities to engulf and educate myself on things that I don't care about just to fit in or generally just assist in a conversation.

This Google Fan concept isn't anything new. I've seen girls do it to seem relevant and intelligent. To impress current prospect or current boyfriends or ex-boyfriends, whatever it takes.

I'm the mildest sports fan possible. My parents never raised me on sports or enrolled me in community sports. I wish they had, but that's not where the cards fell. Three of my closest and oldest friends (they are siblings) come from a sports oriented family. I've gone to their basketball, soccer, field hockey, pop warner football, regular football, softball, and baseball games. They've done it all. ...[read more]

I don't think it'd make you a fraud if you researched it to become more knowledgeable. If someone thinks you're a fraud, that's their issue. Whether it's sports/politics/new media etc, I think it's admirable when people take the time to learn something new.

Good point! I'm actually really struggling with it, though it seems so petty. I feel like if I don't take some time to research then I feel like a snob and yet I don't want to force myself to do something unless I really want to do it.

I think out of all sports, hockey is what I can honestly take more time to learn about (more so about the teams since I already understand the rules) and actually be genuine...even if people don't actually care about hockey! whaaaaaaaaaaatever might ducks for life!

Anyone who plays fantasy and thinks there is some higher science to it is only kidding themselves. Yes, there are things you can do to basically guarantee competiveness, but that is really it. Luck, at the end of the day is what pushes someone over the top. Therefore, for fantasy players (myself included) to say snide things like you mentioned in your post is pretty much off base. I find that lots people like to stroke their own ego and fantasy sports is another way to do it. I play them because it is a good way to stay in touch with some of my out of state friends/talk junk to one another in a fun way and to pay attention to other teams that I don't follow closely. And as far as the Leauge is concerned, do you really need to be a fantasy player to understand jokes like "vulturing" touchdowns/girls? I don't think so haha. I don't think you need to be a fantasy "expert" to enjoy that show. I think that is what they are going for too.

That's actually a really great and honest point!

That being said, I'm like 3 episodes behind The League and definitely need to catch up. I mean, that show has definitely taught me some FF things over the last 3 seasons.

Well that is the great thing about on-demand, DVR, or the internet. You can catch up at your own leisure! The League is one of the few shows I try to consistently watch that is not on a premium channel. I don't really do well with commercials haha.

I think the bigger issue here is sexism rather than fantasy football, because that's really what it boils down to.

Many women avoid white
Christian Louboutin UKlike the plague. They believe that white bags are more difficult to clean, and therefore are more of a nuisance to own. The truth is that white handbags can be as easily taken care of as any other color handbag, as long as you don't fall into a puddle of mud. And white handbags are even easier to clean than black handbags should they get dirty. One white wholesale Louis Vuitton replica Christian Louboutin Outlet that is the perfect bag for any situation is the Suhali Leather Le Precieux White. This beautiful Louis Vuitton Official Websiteis elegant and compact, making it perfect for special occasions as well as every day situations. The adjustable and removable strap has a riveted look, giving it a sort of rock look, while the golden brass pieces on the bag stand out very well against the white. This Louis Vuitton Outletcloses with a flap and an s-lock, making it fairly secure, and the strap is completely removable, allowing you to carry it around as a clutch, if you would like.
