"So I guess this is growing up" Take VI

I'm staring at my bank account and trying to calculate my future.

Today my mom picked me up from work. I stepped into the car to see that she was in hysterics.
She claims she screwed up my deferment for my student loans because she's been so busy pretty much taking care of every other aspect of her life and our family. She just messed it all up.
My loans are about $20,000 and it might be time for me to start paying them. The loans are an amount because I basically took out every possible loan be able to attend college. This money doesn't even include the other loan I was paying off myself, which was about $1600. Right now if I put away $200 a month, it would take me about 8 years to pay it off. I'll be 35 years old.

I am falling into insanity...[read more]

I have minimum payments of $250 a month in student loans if that helps at all. I went to a private university and took some loans out to cover the difference of what I didn't get in scholarships. I just made a detailed budget when I graduated (mostly because I love Excel, but also it really helps). I have 3 loans and I paid one off pretty quickly while doing just over minimums on the other two. Now with only two remaining, I try and come as close to doubling each payment as possible. The more you can chip away at the principal the better! I have had some unexpected car expenses that were pretty annoying, but I just try and stay disciplined with my long-term goals in mind. Do I really need to get a new phone this month? Do I really need to go out both nights of the weekend? Do I need to go out to lunch so often? Maybe instead of going shopping and out on the weekend, I will do one or the other. These are some of the things I have asked myself when budgeting. Luckily, I am friends with some teachers, so they are always down to stay in on the weekend and drink/hangout on the cheap haha. Money can get frustrating; especially student loans. So many things you would rather spend that money on. But at the same time, you, myself, and others in similar positions are still young and things tend to work themselves out. I know for myself, these types of issues are some of the things currently motivating me in my career.

This is actually really helpful, thank you. I could have had probably $10,000 saved over the years if I was more careful with my money, but I spend what I make usually because I like to enjoy the finer things. However, it's getting time to buckle down. I'm just sad that this money I'm putting aside won't be really for my savings but for something that happened so long ago.

The student loan payments are the ones I am least stoked about for sure. I am with you on enjoying the finer things as well haha. When payday hits and I know the the paycheck has been direct deposited, I start thinking about music I want or a shopping session. I just try and fight the urge and think a little more level. It's tough and not very exciting, but saving and spending smart quickly shows results. Even something small like buying my new winter coat this month instead of "in season". We have had a mild winter, my Northface was super discounted trying to get it off the shelf! I still treat myself every now and then, though.

I do simple things for drinks such as instead of getting medium priced bottles of wines because I can technically "afford" it, I find great wines that are cheaper (most places usually have someone pretty knowledgeable or will let you taste). For liquor, instead of top shelf I get something below that. If I am buying a well drink at a bar, I just ask for the bottom shelf stuff because it is getting mixed with stuff anyway. No shame and I kind of still have the college outlook on bars anyways. Every now and then I splurge and get something nice for myself. Saving and shopping smart have been big things for myself the past year and half or so. In the past I was a little more laissez-faire with my spending, so I totally sympathize with that.

Many women avoid white
Christian Louboutin UKlike the plague. They believe that white bags are more difficult to clean, and therefore are more of a nuisance to own. The truth is that white handbags can be as easily taken care of as any other color handbag, as long as you don't fall into a puddle of mud. And white handbags are even easier to clean than black handbags should they get dirty. One white wholesale Louis Vuitton replica Christian Louboutin Outlet that is the perfect bag for any situation is the Suhali Leather Le Precieux White. This beautiful Louis Vuitton Official Websiteis elegant and compact, making it perfect for special occasions as well as every day situations. The adjustable and removable strap has a riveted look, giving it a sort of rock look, while the golden brass pieces on the bag stand out very well against the white. This Louis Vuitton Outletcloses with a flap and an s-lock, making it fairly secure, and the strap is completely removable, allowing you to carry it around as a clutch, if you would like.
