Anyone who's on Twitter has seen something like this. Twitter has taken social networking and the Internet by storm in recent months with a simplistic objective. At its heart, Twitter is no more than an entire site dedicated to an away message/status update like the one seen above: a 140-character limit and one of the biggest success stories of 2008.
Now why is it a success? Do we really need updates on the most mundane and unnecessary things that people are doing? No, not at all. So why do people use it? People use it because of the idea of read more] | | |

Then again, after seeing Benjamin Button, you may never know who and where someone will impact your life for whatever reason, even if it is to inform you of when they're having breakfast or walking the dog.
Personally, I think I draw a distinction between Twitter and uploading videos to YouTube\a news blog. I don't know if Twitter is ever going to be a really useful news source, because of the character limit - I don't ever want to get an update that says "terrorist attack in Mumbai" and doesn't provide any context or details. News shouldn't be bite-sized, and these things are much more complicated than 140 characters.
