First Impressions: Boys Like Girls - "Crazy World"
07/16/12 at 01:15 PM by Jason Tate | After about three listens ... I finally can put some thoughts down on the new Boys Like Girls album. It's poppy. Very. Very. Poppy. But, where I made the turn on the album is when someone mentioned something about it kind of reminding them of Butch Walker in some thread. So, after initially not really liking what I was hearing -- I went back to it with a different mindset. While it's not really my kind of thing right now, for what it is - a slower hook filled pop album - it is pretty good at that. Martin sounds great, the hooks are there, the lyrics are eeeeeeehhhhh-at-best but you can't help singing along to most of it. I guess there is a little Butch Walker-esque pop sensibility here, and coming at it with that angle ... made me appreciate the album more than my first time through.
