Music Mends Broken Hearts
|
| Stop Making My Music Disposable. |
I understand the need to want music early, I do. However, this bullshit craze of albums leaking early when they're not even the completed album is horrendous. It destroys the music. An album that leaks missing songs ruins the first listen. The band spends hours putting the sequence together and then some kid with an FTP account ruins that? There is something music fans should appreciate about listening to an album IN FULL the first time they hear it. Furthermore, this bootleg version of Saves the Day that's floating around has real tracks mixed with streams from their flash player, mixed with re-encodes, to create a few songs that sound like the album and the rest are horrifically poor in quality. That's not how anyone should experience a CD like Sound the Alarm for the first time. I mean, shit, it flat out ruins everything that music is supposed to be about.
In the end: quality and the feeling the actual music gives you matters so much more than having a shitty rip of a CD, missing tracks, a few weeks early.
Lastly, I want to thank whoever leaked Hit the Lights for doing a few things..
1) Ruining the special promotion we had running on this website for the band, because of you the band won't get nearly enough promotion and exposure. So much for wanting to help the band sell albums.
2) The band's debut will sell less and you're to blame. Good job! I hope you can sleep at night knowing you had a dramatic impact on a band's career.

| Let's Rate Them: One Line Wonders |
Morrissey - Ringleader of the Tormentors: 9.6/10 - Possibly the best living songwriter I personally follow. God I love this man. In my top 3 favorite artists list of all time.
Rock Kills Kid - Are You Nervous?: 8.5/10 - Sleeper hit of the year. The 80's electronica thing isn't worn out on me yet. The best production Trombino's done since Clarity.
Saves the Day - Sound the Alarm: 9.1/10 - STD are back in a big way. In Reverie vocals with Through Being Cool music. Brutal lyrics. It works. This may very well be one of the most important bands of my life.
Moneen - The Red Tree: 8.2/10 - They channel so many different bands to create a complex album that I fear will go unnoticed.
Brandston - Hello, Control: 8.4/10 - This electronica/dance thing is in, seriously. Brandtson are great, I'll be listening to this for a while. New direction, same quality.

| I Love That Sound So Give Me One More Line |
| I can't decide if the new Yellowcard album is growing on me because I really want to like it, I'm forcing myself to keep listening to it, or it's actually getting better with each listen. It seems like I like the album while listening to it, and then when I've turned it off (or am listening to something else) I think of how much I don't like it and everything that's wrong with it. | |

| Per a Conversation Jared and I Had Tonight |
| I am sick of bands who feel the need to make the obligatory "interesting" and "different" follow-up album to their fun, relaxed, "hit" CD. Stop trying to make the next Deja Entendu! Brand New wasn't TRYING to do it - they just did! Do what you do best, and you'll be a better band. | |

| All Mushy And Shit |
Growing up, didn't you think sooner or later all the answers would come to you? Aren't decisions supposed to get easier?
At 22 I have new-found respect for my parents. I'm not so sure they ever had all the right answers when I was growing up, but somehow - they found a way to convince me of the right path. I gave my parents more hell then I ever should have and said more things then I can ever take back ... yet earlier today both my mom and dad were over helping me put together new furniture. What did I do to deserve such amazing people in my life. I surely am not worthy of what's been given to me. Luck, divine design, random chance? Why was I blessed while others get deadbeats or abusive assholes? I don't know what caused it, or who made the decision - but wow, I sure am lucky to be loved.

| "Soon" is a Four Letter Word |
I'm always everything to everyone I never wanted to be anything for; don't ask, you know who you are. You want to see baggage? Take a closer look. I'm the worst boy with the best luck. I've lost skylines and burnt paper-stars; another by-product of wondering where you are. Today's punishment: my desire to feel the way you breathe.
I'm sorry that my jealousy is the only way I can say, "I love you."
