I just finished up this project on Anberlin's album Cities that I've been working on for a while. I dug through all the interviews with vocalist/lyricist Stephen Christian I could find from around the time Cities came out, and I was actually able to find explanations from him for every single song on the album, about what inspired the lyrics. The explanation for (*Fin) is especially cool, if you haven't already read it anywhere. I also found some pretty cool information about the album in general, like that it was originally called Songs for Darker Places, and how that title eventually transformed into Cities. I posted it on my personal blog, which doesn't really have any other posts about music, but this ended up being so big and time-consuming that I wanted to post it there anyways. If you have some time, check it out and let me know what you think, I'm pretty happy with what I was able to find.
I posted this comment on a news article about The Hoodies a little over a month ago, complaining about the ugly band t-shirts that everyone seems to be making these days. This morning, I got a message from one of the guys in the band saying that they were using my post, verbatim, for a t-shirt they were getting ready to print, and that they want to send me a shirt and a copy of their new EP.
It reads Re: The Hoodies "It's a shame no one knows how to make decent band t-shirts anymore." - Matt RM, Dayton OH
It's great to see a band having fun with the negativity that gets thrown at them from internet shit-talkers. It's even greater to get a free t-shirt and CD out of it.
