When did TVs get so inexpensive?
07/08/09 at 04:14 PM by The Summer Ends
I was looking at TVs I could buy for this upcoming semester at college, and damn, they aren't as expensive as I thought they would be. A brand new 32" Sony Bravia is less than $500. Now I can get a new 360 with the money I'm saving. Hell yes.

10 random songs and thoughts
04/15/09 at 03:29 PM by The Summer Ends
iPod on shuffle

Jimmy Eat World - "If You Don't, Don't"
One of my favorite songs off of Bleed American. I honestly can't say enough good things about this band, they're so good. I would be happy if Jimmy Eat World won the March Mayhem thing.

New Found Glory - "Listen To Your Friends"
Pretty solid song off of a solid album. I don't really like it as much of Sticks and Stones or Coming Home, but it's solid. The song itself is good. I remember buying it from Amazon MP3 a while back, and listening to it over and over and over. I probably burned myself out on it.

Much The Same - "Living a Lie"
Short, awesome song. Not much to say other than it's really high energy.

The Early November - "My Lack of Skill"
I love Ace Enders. I wasn't a huge fan of TMTMATP, but this song isn't bad.

Ace Enders And A Million Different People - "Bring Back Love (Year 2020)"
Awesome song with an awesome message. Releasing this album for free on Fuse.tv was awesome, and I probably would have passed on it had it not been free. I still love Ace Enders.

Bangarang! - "Frozen Over, First In Line"
Awesome pop-punk/hardcore band that most people haven't heard of. The song is really high energy, and just all around awesome. I highly, highly, highly recommend them, and their album is free for download I think.

Timeless! - "Interstate"
Another lesser known pop-punk/hardcore band that is awesome. They're from Massachusetts, so Four Year Strong comparisons are inevitable. I first got into them after seeing their music video for "Victory Dance" somewhere. It was an AMAZING video.

John Mayer - "Neon"
John Mayer is my hero. Every single thing he does is gold in my eyes. Inside Wants Out is my favorite thing he's ever released, and Neon is one of my favorite songs (along with "No Such Thing" and "Comfortable"). His voice is godly.

Lupe Fiasco - "American Terrorist"
In a genre that I have much distaste for, Lupe is a shining light. While most rappers are too busy with their hoes, money, and grills, Lupe keeps it real. The song is about the post 9/11 hysteria, and how Bush attacked Iraq for being different. It might be seen as anti-America on first listen, but after a few listens you'll see it's really about everyone joining together and ending racism and intolerance. Awesome song.

John Denver - "Calypso"
Oh my, John motherfucking Denver. This man is amazing. I first learned about him at my grandma's house who had him on the TV for some special or DVD or whatever (I don't know, but he was on TV). His voice is awesome, and I have a soft spot for folk tunes.

I'm surprised there's no Dashboard Confessional as I have over 100 songs from him/them on my iPod.

I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to say that I would fellate him. Repeatedly.

Remember she asked you, "remember to breathe, and everything will be okay."

I haven't felt this way in a long, long time. I've been on lots of dates since my last relationship ended around a year ago, but this is first one I've been on where I genuinely liked the girl I was going out with. I have the cliche butterflies in my stomach, and I'm stressing out over everything. Should I wear a hat? Is this too much cologne?

It's only perfect that in the midst of my struggle, "Remember to Breathe" comes up on shuffle. It's like Chris can just write about an experience in life so perfectly that it seems like he writes songs the moment he's going through through it.

I love this feeling. It's life. It's love. It's longing. It's everything that the cliched first date is.

PS: If she ends up wearing blue, I'm going to absolutely freak.

God dammit, New Found Glory
03/18/09 at 07:21 PM by The Summer Ends
I was listening to Not Without A Fight again today (which, if you haven't heard, is damn good), and I finally decided to look through the thank you section at the end of the booklet.

I'm looking through at the entire band's thank yous the most; the other bands they thank in particular. Then I realize they spell Chris Carrabba wrong. They left out the second "b." "Chris Carraba."

God dammit, New Found Glory. You can't spell my favorite singer ever's name correctly. You're lucky the album kicks so much ass.

Teddy Geiger

Remember this guy? I used to be obsessed with that Underage Thinking album. "For You I Will" and "Seven Days Without You" still get played regularly on my iPod.

Teddy Geiger, put out some new material.

Allen Fieldhouse blog
02/25/09 at 06:13 PM by The Summer Ends
So, here I am camping out for one of the most anticipated games of my life. The only other times I remember being this giddy was before the Border War this year, before the Final Four game against UNC last year, and before the National Championship against Memphis last year. I'm in the legendary Phog Allen Fieldhouse, sitting on my laptop, listening to the Polar Bear Club, and holding my group's spot in line for my two hour shift.
