Saw Fightstar last night at The Cockpit in Leeds. They were fantastic. Played a really good set list and there was a great atmosphere. And to top the evening off, they very generously donated a signed t-shirt to my girlfriend for the charity auction she's holding in a few weeks!
As for the other gigs, I'm seeing Muse for the first time tonight at Sheffield arena, and then I'm seeing Biffy Clyro/Manchester Orchestra on friday at Leeds Academy. It's going to be a very expensive/tiring week, but it's going to be legen - wait for it - dary! I love How I Met Your Mother.
Only one CD from the list. I got given a copied version of this CD when I was 12 along with a copied version of Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory, thus starting my musical journey. So it was about time I owned a physical copy of this album. Plus it has 'Makes Now Difference' on it, which my copied CD didn't, and I love that song.
Sum 41 - All Killer, No Filler
Oh, and the reason I only manged to get one CD this week is because I blew a hefty chunk of my tiny income on this:
Wii Sports Resort
Frisbee Dog may even be more fun than actual Frisbee.
I don't know about the rest of you but, until a couple of years ago, my mums taste in music was pretty poor. If we were going to be traveling in the car for any extended period of time, I'd be subjected to some pretty awful songs. Anyway, I decided that she needed educating/I couldn't bare another journey listening to Duffy and made her a mix CD with some of my favourite songs of the time and some slightly more bearable well known songs. The CD went down a treat so every 3-4 months or so I make her a new one, the latest being volume 5. I suggest you do the same if you have a similar problem. Here's the tracklisting:
1. Should You Return - Copeland
2. Little Bribes - Death Cab For Cutie
3. Feel Good Drag - Anberlin
4. Don't Wait - Dashboard Confessional
5. I Want You To Want Me (live) - Cheap Trick
6. Mutiny Off The Alutian Coast By Rorrim Ehtni - Eye Alaska
7. Sweet And Low - Augustana
8. Good Morning Fire Eater - Copeland
9. Weathered - The Dangerous Summer
10. Unstoppable - E. S. Posthumous
11. American Landslide - Eye Alaska
12. War Machine - Fightstar
13. I Don't Want To Be (live) - Gavin DeGraw
14. Just Another Day - Good Old War
15. Waiting On The World To Change - John Mayor
16. Kids - MGMT
17. Bliss - Muse
18. The Moment That It Stops - The Narrative
19. Carousel - Paper Route
20. Beautybird - Wolftron
My friend came over last night for a catch up, and realised she'd forgotten to buy me a birthday present. So I took the opportunity to shorten the length of my CD purchasing task with the £20 (approx $33) she gave me to spend. A quick visit to Amazon and I ended up getting the following albums missing from my collection:
Fall Out Boy - Take This To Your Grave
Funeral For A Friend - Hours
Coheed And Cambria - In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3
I've pre-ordered the Brand New CD/T-shirt combo and the As Tall As Lions CD. Ridiculous that it's practically the same price to order this stuff from the US as it is to try and buy it off a UK site or store.
Firstly, I'll agree that Michael Jackson shall be sorely missed, and that he was undoubtedly the 'King of Pop'.
But how can you possibly suddenly 'love' a song since he died? You did not love the song last week, yet now that he's dead, you do? This makes no sense and annoys me.
I also can't believe so many people are listening to him. I love the music, but I'm sick of it already. You can't escape it once you've stepped out the front door, so why would I want to listen to it once I've got home? I'm pretty sure I've heard 'Beat It' three times already today, and I was only out the house for a couple of hours.
On another note, I don't particularly like Nothing Personal. I enjoyed 'Weightless', but I don't need to own this CD. Im far happier putting some old Sum 41 or New Found Glory on instead.
1.The Dangerous Summer - Reach For The Sun
2.Alexisonfire - Old Crows/Young Cardinals
3.Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything To Nothing
4.Closure In Moscow - First Temple
5.Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
6.P.O.S - Never Better
7.Fightstar - Be Human
8.Paper Route - Absense
9.Therefore I Am - The Sound Of Human Lives
10a.The Dear Hunter - Act III
10b.Portugal. The Man - The Satanic Satanist
Haven't listened to The Dear Hunter or Portugal. The Man yet, but can practically guarantee they'll end up on my end of year list.
Based on plays, Closure In Moscow should be on top, but i haven't really wanted to listen to it in a while. Alexisonfire is in constant rotation right now, explaining why it's at 2, but it may slip depending on its staying power.
