The Story So Far...
05/11/10 at 10:29 AM by Yellowcard2006
Has written some of the best pop-punk I've heard in a while. Songs remind me of TAYF at times. One listen and you'll be convinced.

You can stream it here on the site

And then buy it for $4 on iTunes

Lesser Known Yellowcard songs.
12/09/09 at 11:17 AM by Yellowcard2006
Yellowcard is my favorite band. I figure I'd put together a blog that consists of all of their lesser known/non-album songs. Some of these songs are my favorite out of their entire catalog. Hope you take to time to check 'em out

First up is the entire Underdog EP
It's one of the lesser known Yellowcard releases and it should not be ignored. It was released between One For the Kids and Ocean Avenue It has a sound more similar to OFTK but with some darker moods and maturity.

Choice tracks are
  • Rocket
  • Avondale
  • Finsh Line

It doesn't seem to be on iTunes but you can listen to some samples on this amazon page HERE

Check out a review by Adrian Villagomez HERE
Next is a song called" Firewater"
It was released on Punk Goes Acoustic 2 and it has some of the most heartfelt and relateable lyrics Ryan has ever wrote. The lyrics combined with a beautiful violin line and acoustic playing makes this song one of my favorites.

Give it a listen HERE
Which brings me to the b-sides section of the blog
If consider yourself a Yellowcard fan. You need to hear these songs. If you have, well then I satue you. But if you've yet to do this, please correct that as soon as possible

The b-sides to check out are
  • Three Flights Down (Lights and Sounds b-sideEmotional, powerful, honest. This song has my favorite lyrics of any Yellowcard song)

    Listen to it HERE
  • When We're Old Men (Lights and Sounds b-sideMost likely written about Ben leaving the band)

    Listen to it HERE
  • Bombers (Paper Walls b-side, really great violin line and a huge chorus)

    Listen to it HERE
  • Hey Mike! (Ocean Avenue b-side, just a fun track about friends that have grown apart)

    Listen to it HERE
Well I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do. Leave thoughts in the replies.

Say Anything-2nd Impressions
10/29/09 at 04:14 PM by Yellowcard2006
The first 5 tracks are just awesome. Some really cool instrument choices interesting lyrics. So far my least favorite tracks are "Property" and "Crush'd" Overall I think it's a great album. I've had trouble getting into the other Say Anything albums but I think I'll be picking this one up. Definitely give it a listen.

New Pop-Rock band, give it a listen.
10/14/09 at 10:30 AM by Yellowcard2006
New Orlando based band All This Trouble just put up a new song.

It's called "At Least I Can Dream"

It's best described as a catchy as hell chorus mixed in with some solid pop-punk guitar and emotional lyrics. Get talking about this band now.

Recommended if you like: The Years Gone By, All Time Low, Man Overboard, catchy pop-rock music

In Search of an Excellent Album
09/18/09 at 11:46 AM by Yellowcard2006
And I found it.

Saosin's newest album In Search of Solid Ground is solid. Great choruses, sweet melodies, and a more balanced sound from the band really make it a unique listen. It wasn't what I was expecting, but that's another reason why I like it. Just like the new TBS album, if you swear by the bands older work, you need not apply.

8/10

Saosin: Second Impression
09/04/09 at 08:11 AM by Yellowcard2006
After hearing higher quality samples of the songs. I'm not COMPLETELY disappointed. Sure it's not the full length version of TTN but that album will probably never be made. Saosin has definitely tried for some poppier songs this time around, either due to pressure form the label or possibly they just like pop songs, but they aren't really bad pop songs just not what you'd expect from the band that wrote "Lost Symphonies".
There are still quite a few songs that have potential and with 56 minutes of music, I'm sure there is plenty to like in there. Well it seems I will be buying this album. But please Saosin, for album #3 comeback with something to really shut the haters up. Everyone knows you have the skill and talent to write a mind blowing record. Just don't take another 3 years to do it

I think I'll post full impressions sometime in the next two weeks. Once I have the album in my hands. thanks for reading. Share your thoughts in the replies, ya know if ya want to.

Saosin I Am Disappoint
09/03/09 at 09:46 AM by Yellowcard2006
UPDATE My newer impressions are in the blog right above this one.

Seriously guys. I heard about 6 tracks off the album, and it's just so bland. Where are the killer riffs? Where are the interesting lyrics? Where is the awesome song structure?

This was one of my most anticipated albums of the year and (much like Red Jumpsuit) I'm disappointed. Hopefully the tracks I haven't heard yet will change my opinion of the album, but I'm not feeling too hyped right now.

And honestly the lyrics are so boring. Emery's new album is mostly a break-up album too, and I love those lyrics so it can't be just the topic being covered. I'm just not hearing much that would pull me back for repeated listens over several months.

Right now I'm too disappointed to hear anymore. Hopefully the album goes up for streaming soon so I can get a better idea (I listened to a few songs though meh youtube quality)

If you haven't heard the new Emery album I DEFINITELY suggest giving it a listen. It's called ...In Shallow Seas We Sail.

Share your thoughts/first impressions on the new Saosin album in the replies, if ya feel like it. [/strike]
