Shack Attack Records has released their first compilation album - somewhat legit, physical copies are coming along February 12th - but you can listen/download it now. There are lots of great artists on it - you can get it now on bandcamp.
Alot of really great artists on it. Candy Hearts, Space Ghost Cowboys/Sex God, Nick Corbo, Cameron Wish & Weekend Stars - all bands i've mentioned before along with a bunch i haven't mentioned that are equally great and diverse.
i haven't posted in a couple days, inbetween working and getting this EP with Burnout ready - but anyways - it's ready now, so you can check it out. We did it NOFX/Rancid style - where we covered a couple of each other songs. It was a lot of fun, and i'm happy with how it came out. I'll start posting about other people again this weekend - probably.
1. Obvious (Burnout)
2. Jenny (Weekend Stars)
3. Chicken Little (Burnout)
4. I'm Sound Asleep At Night (Weekend Stars)
5. Fawn (Burnout)
If you've avoided everything i've posted up to this point - i suggest that changes with this singular post - because this is probably the most important thing i have posted.
Shack Attack Records is a record label starting from purchase with the most amazing musicians i have ever heard on it. Right now they have 4 releases - and lucky you - they're all free!
Support Independent music - check out all of these albums - they're all incredible, some of my favorite ever made
and it's all free... so what have you got to lose?
You've probably heard Cameron Wisch without even knowing it - he's been playing drums in probably every band - most notably from this site Ra Ra Riot. But now he's pretty much full time doing his solo stuff, going to school and playing in the band Zona Mexicana.
He just put a new song on his myspace called "New Egypt, New Jersey" as of today that you should check out, along with the other stuff on there.
Also this is the kind of art projects he does when they give him installations:
last year he did it with a blackroom, blacklights and neon paint
great weekend playing shows - now back home relaxing, going to watch District 9 today - but, before that...
Communication Corporation - this is the first band i would go see regularly when i was at school. none of my friends liked them - so i made new ones i could dance with at these shows, and there were a lot of people packed into the student center for their shows. With keytar, bass, drums & a kind of dance-party/primus feel it was always a great/trippy time. I'm not really sure what they're up to now - they still play shows around New York... so you should definitely check them out.... cause life after Purchase is a rough world.
here are two of their music videos:
they have a CD called I.P.O that you can get on iTunes - along with some newer songs on their myspace
