My track of the day - Fightstar, A City On Fire11/13/09 at 07:40 PM by lynnie |
Fightstar - A City On Fire
So, some of you may know Fightstar are one of my all time favourite bands. They deliver these great tunes you'll never get tired of hearing. This being one of them, "A City On Fire". The track will be available to download on 7 Dec 2009 and will also be on the re-release of their album "Be Human" due out Feb 2010.
Check out the music video below. Awesooome. Especially the end! ;)

My town and Sigur Ros, Glosoli helping me through it...11/03/09 at 08:57 AM by lynnie |
Walking through town this morning, I can see how it has changed some what. There seems to be a grey cloud hanging over. People are miserable, depressed and behaviour's towards one another are shocking. I passed a family with big bomber jackets and unwashed hair. They were shouting and swearing at each other outside a small corner shop. They had two great big bull dogs that looked fed better than they did. As I walked passed they had that gazed over, black treacle look in their eyes, as if they were about to give me some form of abuse. With a further look of, who the hell are you? I went into autopilot mode and started to walk fast, turning up my music to drown out the sound and escape the reality that is so bleak. My town has changed. Is this the recession everyone is talking about?
Track of the day and tune that helped me on my way:
Sigur Ros, Glosoli
The last few minutes of the tune where the boy starts to bang the drum and then the tune builds up with a real epic ending really gets to me every time (4:00). Love the Peter Pan style jumping off the mountain thing going on too... You have to turn up the ending of the video really loud to get the full effect. Love it! x
Check out this live version. It is the best I have heard! X

Track of the day - would be Fightstar, "A City On Fire" but...10/19/09 at 07:17 AM by lynnie |
...I haven't heard it yet (yes, it's just been played on radio 1 ), so I need something to chill me out while I wait.
I guess people will moan this is the dude off that movie, Twilight. Hey, I think we forget he has the most amazing voice and one I admire.
Check out these tracks off the first soundtrack (Twilight), as-well as the second track, "Let me sign" which is off the bonus version:
Rob Pattinson - Never Think

Taking Risks...10/02/09 at 04:20 PM by lynnie |
Here's a poem I found:
RISK
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out to another is to risk involvement.
To expose your feelings is to risk rejection.
To place your dreams before the crowd is to risk ridicule.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To go forward in the face of overwhelming odds is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken,
Because the greatest risk of all is to risk nothing.
The man who risks nothing, does nothing,
Has nothing and is nothing.
He may avoid suffering and sorrow,
But he cannot learn, he cannot feel,
He cannot change and he cannot grow
And he cannot love.
Chained by his certitudes he is a slave.
Only the person who risks is truly free.

After reading the above poem, I have applied for US secondment through work this morning. Fingers crossed, peeps x | |

Tori Amos, Siren09/11/09 at 05:56 PM by lynnie |
Tori Amos - Siren
I have been listening to alot of her stuff lately including her new album but I think the one song I would like to share with you today and is my track of the day has to be Siren. It is such a classic and you would have probably heard/seen it on the 1996 movie Great Expectations.
I couldn't find the full music video but I have found this amazing lady...

Vega4, yet another great band!08/31/09 at 07:43 PM by lynnie |
Vega4 - Life is beautiful
I am not sure if I am turning into some sort of hippy or something but I am really into these feel good tunes at the moment. You have probably seen/heard this tune on my sisters keeper trailer. However, I have been a fan of these guys for a while, so very excited to find it on the soundtrack. As far as I am aware they didn't make a video for this great tune. I love the pause and then bang, right into the tune again when you hit 4:00. Enjoy and be happy!

Lynnie may be thinking too much...07/21/09 at 04:39 AM by lynnie |
| Life is full of moments. They can be good, bad, emotional, happy or sad. We sometimes dwell on the past or worry about the future, before we know it we have lost time we are currently in. I think it is important to live in the moment and have positive people around you. People who want the best for you and see you succeed, not feed off negative energy and pain. I am learning this everyday. You may find the people surrounding your life are not always positive. This can be a drain and strain. If you find it a chore to meet one of these so called friends, feel down and low, it may be best to let go and find your own sanity and happiness. You are your own destiny... | |
