Vans Warped Tour Compilation: How To Prepare For and Survive Warped Tour
by: 'Various Artists' Who Played Warped Tour 2008
A pseudo guide for bands who will be playing the Vans Warped Tour for the first time next year!
During my interviews this year, I asked every band to give advice to bands who will be playing Warped Tour for the first time next year. The advice was all so amazing that I decided to put it all together and make a compilation blog, if you will, for bands to read and take notes so they'll be fully prepared for the 2009 tour if they're playing. Lots of bands from Shwayze to Cobra Starship all had great advice and here it is! Enjoy!
"Get ready for a wild ride. Get out and see all the fans, make friends with the bands and just do everything because that's the biggest part of Warped Tour. Just be social and take this opportunity to meet everyone." By Shwayze and Cisco Adler
Pierce The Veil:
"Try to prepare as much as possible as far as getting merch ready and get all your gear ready. Make sure you have cases for all your gear because it gets thrown around like crazy. And if it rains you're gonna need something to cover it up with. Protect all your stuff. Do whatever you can to beat the heat. It's hard for us to say stuff because this is our first time too so we're still kind of learning as we go along." By Vic and Tony
"Drink lots of water. Bring your own water and scissors to cut all your pants and shirts and try to find a lot of tank tops. Stay cool, stay hydrated." By Dave and Jimmie
"Keep yourself hydrated. Have fun. Stay in the shade. Try to meet as many people as you can and make a lot of fans." By Alex Suarez
Between The Trees:
"Promote your band big time! When you think that you've promoted your band enough, you haven't. Continue to promote all day long until your set time. And if you [end up having to open] ...after you get done, promote your band. Warped Tour has thousands of kids and they're ready and eager to hear new music. Get out there and get after it!" By Brad
"This is our first year, too. We're kind of new to it as well. Enjoy yourself. It's a lot of hard work. Buy a cart to load your gear. Rule number one, buy a dolly!" By Settings
"Bring some sunblock. Drink a lot of water and don't party every night, you're gonna get fucking sick!" By Juliet Simms
Forever The Sickest Kids:
"Bring one item that you consider a vice because there's a lot of stress out here and you need to find a way to have your downtime where you can feel like a kid again or go be by yourself. Get out and work. You're here, make the best of it. Nothing's gonna come to you if you're just sitting around. If you're out here, work hard." By Jonathan and Marc

OHHH and brand new banners will be coming soon so you can post those babies on your online pages and such (myspace, lj, buzznet etc)
I recently covered the Sleeping With Giants tour and managed to sit down with Bryce Avary of The Rocket Summer and ask him a bunch of questions. I also went to the MySpace.com Music Tour to shoot Say Anything and wrote a review of the show as well. You can read and see everything on my website!
Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!
I don't get around to checking my APnet page too often so please visit my MySpace page or my Buzznet for constant updates! You can also hit me up on AIM! Just add me to your buddy list and when I am online, send me an IM. I'm usually really good at getting back to you quickly! Add the screenname: emophotography today! Talk talk talk!
I love how all the bands I love are intertwining on tour...for instance I went to see Kill Hannah and discovered Love Arcade and then I discovered The Academy Is and Love Arcade opened for them as well as As Tall As Lions who will be on the AP Tour which I will also be going to alot. When Love Arcade goes back out they'll be on tour with All Time Low first and This Providence later on. And I discovered All Time Low and This Providence on Cute Is What We Aim For's latest tour......and I discovered Cute Is What We Aim For when they opened for Hellogoodbye @ Irving Plaza the day before Halloween '06.
It's so much fun...like a huge non-stop party!!
Or should I stay it's like a huge party I honestly don't WANT to be over! ...and I usually hate parties. Isn't it ironic that I'd even use that as an analogy? :)
Not to mention the Bamboozle Festival when the majority of the bands named above including Hellogoodbye and Gym Class Heroes will be under the same roof.
