Australian Music Round-Up (05/05/13)News:

- Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joy has signed to Atlantic Records

- Listen to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds new song "Animal X" here

- Lyon Apprentice is an Australian duo made up of two brothers Adam and Nathan. They travelled to Cairns to record their debut EP with Mark Myers, who has worked with other artists such as The Middle East and Emma Louise. Their EP is due out sometime in 2013. In the meantime, please check out this EP teaser

- The Occupants (ex-Cog) have released their new song “I’ve Been Thinking”. The band has been in the studio with Forrester Savell. You can hear the song here.

- Melbourne pop-rock band The Bellastrades has released a new single from their self-titled EP which came out last year. They’ve also got a show at The Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy on Sunday 19th of May. More details here.

- Something with Numbers (Jake Grigg from Maniac’s original band) will release their new album Eleven Eleven on May 10. They recently released a new single ‘Wild One’ which you can buy on iTunes. You can pre-order the album from JB Hi-Fi.

- The Nation Blue’s debut album A Blueprint For Modern Noise will see a reissue on vinyl by Poison City Records. The tracks will be remastered at New York's West West Side Studios and will see release as a double LP in August. The album was originally released in 2001 through Trial And Error Records.

- Brisbane’s Marathon have announced they are currently working on their debut album. The album, which carries the title of Cure is being recorded at Sun Distortion Studios in Brisbane with Chris Brownbill (Idylls) behind the boards. The band last released the I’ll Never Look At You The Same Way 7” in 2012 through Midnight Funeral Records.

- Sydney three-piece Yes I’m Leaving have announced their third album Mission Bulb. The album will be released on May 22 through Tenzenmen Records and is the follow-up to 2012’s Nothing. Listen to Song For You here

- Pee Records will release the debut solo EP from The Decline bassist/vocalist Dan Cribb, The Memories Last. The acoustic tinged EP also features instrumental and vocal contributions from Nick Diener of The Swellers and is slated for a release in July with pre-orders available soon.

- Hobbledehoy Records will be releasing an exclusive AUS/NZ-only LP pressing of Owen’s new album L’Ami du Peuple in a choice of yellow or black vinyl. The album has a release date of July 22.

- Gay Paris have released a video for their track "Ash Wednesday Boudoir Party". The band are currently on tour in support of their recently released sophomore album The Last Good Party.

- The Amity Affliction have released a video for their track "Open Letter". The band's most recent album Chasing Ghosts has also been certified gold in sales.

- Melbourne hardcore band Outsiders Code will release their debut album Exiled From Birth on June 7 through Resist Records. The band contains members of 50 Lions, Her Nightmare and Hopeless.

- Jen Buxton has released an EP Desperation Demos for $3 on Bandcamp.

The Australian Music Charts:

- Phoenix has shot into the #5 slot on the ARIA Charts, and following Chrissy Amphlett's death, The Divinyls greatest hits album, The Essentials has claimed #14. Fall Out Boy's Save Rock and Roll has slid 13 places to #15 and Paramore's self titled is sitting pretty at #11

- Tour promoter AJ Maddah has announced the Australian Warped Tour dates.

- Tonight Alive have officially sold out all shows of their homecoming run with Sydney being the latest to sell out. Originally slated to support were Brisbane's Milestones who have had to pull out of the shows due to financial difficulties. They will be replaced by Melbourne's A Sleepless Melody.

- The first acts for The Weekender '13 have been announced. The three day festival will take place in Melbourne on September 6, 7 and 8 and will be headed up by The Smith Street Band, Joyce Manor and Cheap Girls. Also appearing will be Blueline Medic, The Nation Blue, Cory Branan, Hoodlum Shouts and Jen Buxton among others with more acts still to be announced. Tickets go on sale May 10.

- Frenzal Rhomb has announced West Australian and South Australian tour dates:

- Make Believe Me will be joining Funeral For a Friend on the Bunbury date of their Australian tour.

- Tenacious D has had a change of support act. Barry Morgan will no longer be able to do the tour and has been replaced by comedian Damien Power. Sasquatch will still be opening on all dates and tickets are still available in all cities.

- Volumes has announced an Australian tour.

- Vigilante are celebrating the release of their debut EP Quality Of Life with two Sydney launch shows in late May. - Tickets to see Youth Of Today can now be bought.

- Parkway Drive have added a second Perth date to their Australian tour after the first Perth date sold out.

- Brisbane rockers Dollarosa have premiered the video for their new single “Create/Destroy”. The video was directed by David Blackley and the song notably features guest vocals from Story Of The Year’s Dan Marsala.

You can hear Bernard Fanning's new song "Battleships" here. His second studio album will be released on June 7th.

Airbourne's new song "Live It Up" can be heard here. Their new album Black Dog Barking will be available worldwide on May 21.

Legendary Australian rocker Chrissy Amphlett has passed away at the age of 53. The former Divinyls lead singer, who revealed she had breast cancer in 2010, is said to have died after a long battle with cancer in New York on April 21.

Wolfmother will play their final ever show at the end of this month. Frontman Andrew Stockdale announced the news to The Herald Sun newspaper on Friday saying that he was calling time on the Wolfmother name. Andrew Stockdale plans to release his debut solo album later this year.

Art Vs Science has started work on their second full length.

Dead Letter Circus has signed to We Are Unified ahead of the release of their second studio album. They will release a single from their new album next month, and they will announce the albums release date soon.

Sia has started recording her next full length.

Kevin Parker of Tame Impala has started a French side project.

The Cat Empire will release their fifth studio album "Steal The Light" on May 17th.

The Wonder Years new album "The Greatest Generation" is now available for pre-order at Australian music outlets.

The Reverence Hotel is turning one year old. To celebrate, they're throwing a party.

This year's Splendour In The Grass' line up has been announced.

The Cat Empire will embark on a world tour in support of their fifth studio album.

Stone Music Festival will return in 2014 with a headline set from a major rock band, and it could be Muse, Kings of Leon or Pearl Jam.

Adelaide's Spin-Off Music Festival will return to Adelaide in 2013 for it's second year.

Japandroids announced their Australian tour last week. Due to the first Melbourne show selling out, they have added a second Melbourne date.

Japanese three-piece Boris will be returning to Australia this June.

Phoenix plans on touring Australia late this year or early 2014.

The National will be playing Splendour In The Glass this July.

Chvrches will tour Australia for the very first time in August.

Supafest has been postponed until November.

News:

Matt Corby has been writing his debut album. He will be showing off some of these new songs on a recently announced Australian Tour.

Bernard Fanning will release his second solo album "Departures" on June 7th. His new single "Battleships" will hit Australian radios on Monday morning

Josh Pyke will release his new album "The Beginning and the End of Everything" on July 5. He will also be doing a handful of acoustic shows around the country.

Empre Of The Sun is set to release their new album "Ice On The Dune" on June 14. You can listen to the new single "Alive" here.

The Australian Music Charts:

Paramore's self titled album has reached #1 spot on the ARIA charts with Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal slipping to #10. Passenger's All The Little Lights is still firmly placed at #2.

MDC has announced their very first Australian tour.

You Am I has added more shows to their upcoming Australian tour.

Bruno Mars is coming to Australia in 2014.

Daft Punk is going to launch their new album in the small Australian town of Wee Waa. This town only has a population of just under 1700.

As mentioned earler, Josh Pyke will be touring Australia doing some acoustic shows, and Matt Corby will be showing off some of new songs on a recently announced Australian Tour.

Dead Letter Circus have started to mix their second studio album

Closure In Moscow have put up pre-orders for their new album "Pink Lemonade". The album art and release date are still to be confirmed.

The Temper Trap will support The Rolling Stones on their upcoming tour.

Bernard Fanning (ex-Powderfinger) will release his second studio album on June 7th, and will release the first single from it on April 22. Listen to a 20 second clip here.

Calling All Cars are in the studio recording their third studio album.

Eskimo Joe have posted a video which sort of hints towards what their new album is going to be like. Their new album is due out in August after successfully funding their Pozible campaign about 2 months ago.

Cloud Control have started up a new blog to help fans follow through the process of the band recording their second studio album. They recently finished a tour as a supporting act for Weezer.

British India has sat down with the people at the ARIAs to talk about their new album "Controller"

Hip Hop Artist, Seth Sentry, won a competition which gives him the opportunity to support LL Cool J at SXSW. If you didn't catch him there, he will be on Jimmy Kimmel! Live on April 4th
