Shows like Britains Got Talent and The X Factor have actually got people more interested in music again, and are sending more people into record stores. We havent seen this kind of uplift in years.
- Simon Cowell
Shut the fuck up you money-grabbing twat!
Only reason people are going to record stores is because the age groups (little kids and old people) dont know how to use iTunes etc and they think its the only place they can buy your shit.
Im sure more credible bands and artists have got people more interested in music, rather than the shit you produce again and again.

Trace Cyrus and Mason Musso of the synth/pop outfit Metro Station sat down with Alter The Press! whilst in the UK supporting pop superstar Miley Cyrus on a sold out arena tour.
The duo spoke to ATP about the US portion of the Miley Cyrus tour, Blake Healey's depature from the band, signing with Miley's management, new material, a possible Metro Station reality TV show and more.
"ATP: Do you ever miss playing these, still large, arena shows with bands like Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship etc? Mason: I still want to play those shows. We want to be on tour with those guys.
Trace: After this tour, and we blow up, we'll take those bands on tour with us. It's not like it's out of the question, we just want to play shows with people like Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown etc. We are trying to expand, not only be in that one area of music, we want to be in all areas of music like hip-hop, pop, pop/punk etc.
After a few months break, we're bringing back our monthly Spotify playlist. As usual the playlist includes current singles, classic songs and the occasional cover.

So Susan Boyle has the biggest selling debut album of all time. Unsurprisingly its full of covers. I'm fed up and to an extent ashamed that the face of British music is again and again karaoke singers who get lucky by winning some TV show. While there are talented bands, who might not want the mainstream commercial success, but they still go hardly unnoticed and more importantly they provide their own original material.
Jon (the other AlterThePress! co-editor) is in the States at the moment and he was luky enough to sit down with Max Bemis of Say Anything. Max spoke to ATP! about the success of the new album, the change to RCA, his new side-project 'Perma', the future of Two Tongues, when the album will see a UK release, the Max Bemis Song shop and more.
Before heading Stateside Jon sat down with Tegan and Sara.
The duo spoke to ATP! about being back in the UK, the new album 'Sainthood,' and translating it into a live setting, collaborating together for the first time in their career, Tegan and Sara online programming, re-releasing older material and more.
