Going to start making more frequent use of it, posting pointless shit...
Been a long time since I wrote an entry, but I'm going to start writing a daily recommendation again.
So today I present you with this album...
Into It. Over It. - Proper
The album is the first "full band" and first full length album for Evan Weiss, the man behind Into It. Over it.
The album starts out with the shortish but sweet track "Embracing Facts". If you're at all familiar with the previous work of Weiss, this may not be quite what you're expecting. Distorted vocals and guitars set a quick pace and a heavier sound that what we're used to.
The next track "Discretion & Depressing People" is a great, chorus heavy, hook driven, catchy track.
The next track "Fortunate Friends" shows the great skill Weiss has with a guitar. "Write it Right" reminds me of the old sound of The Forecast, and slightly similar to Motion City Soundtrack.
The stand out track in my opinion, has to be "Midnight: Carroll Street". A slightly slower track than the previous, which adds a nice break, but also features some of the strongest lyrics on the album. If you only listen to one track. Make sure it's this.
The final track "The Frames That Used To Greet Me" see's Weiss showcasing his acoustic abilities, giving us a look at the softer side of Into It. Over It. Once again fantastic lyrics and the vocals, soft and emotional, are brilliant.
The album carries on in this fashion, giving us a great insight into the ability of Weiss, both lyrically and musically. Judging by some of his previous work, and the sheer strength of this album as a whole, I think we have only seen the begging of Weiss' talent.
