I am not going to lie. I have been very out of the loop music wise for a while now, and I keep on trying to catch up, and keep finding more and more that I still have not heard.
My rec for today is some beautiful acoustic folk, and one of my favourite albums of the year.
The début album from London based folk band was very much anticipated by me, and by a great number of fans and critics a like. Before the album was out, there had been a number of Eps floating about, all of which did not have a bad song on them.
The album features a number of songs from these eps as well as a lot of new stuff.
Amazing lyrics, amazing guitar work, one of my favourite voices in music, everything about this album is perfect. The band cleaned up the sound for some of these songs, and improved on what were already stellar songs.
One of the best albums to come out in 2009, and a band which has a very bright future ahead of them.
RIYL: New acoustic folk such as Noah and The Whale, Johnny Flynn, Slow Club.
The first song I heard by them was "Little Lion Man" I listened to this song over 100 times in 4 days, and I am still not tiered of it.
Enjoy.
