| | What does applesauce have to do with anything? |
I suppose I should update this. I've been out of touch lately.
But truthfully, it's been nice. Refocusing, reevaluating, and just plain organizing. Which, also truthfully, I needed. Additionally, I've been eating a lot of applesauce.
I'm still here, just preoccupied.

| | Genius! |
My job as a reviewer may have gotten a whole lot easier with this new iTunes Genius feature. RIYLs? No problem! Thanks Apple.
EDIT: This article asks whether Apple has run dry on innovation in their music department. It addresses the new iTunes Genius feature, which boasts data from the loads of other iTunes libraries that is twiddles in its fingertips. So, when I enter in Bon Iver, for example, Genius gives me artists like Andrew Bird, Okkervil River, Fleet Foxes and Iron & Wine (and several more), all of which I think are decent comparisons. When I enter Bon Iver into Pandora, it goes Bon Iver, Elliot Smith, a track from the Juno Soundtrack, Fleet Foxes, The National, another track from Bon Iver, Porlolo (never heard of this), Sun Kil Moon (or this). Similar enough, I guess, but with the majority of the population using iTunes, Genius is a more literal interpretation of a RIYL. | | Tags: apple, itunes, genius, pandora |
