After giving Secondhand Serenade's third album, Hear Me Now, a spin, I feel it is enjoyable for fans John's earlier works. First thoughts: The record is incredibly similar to John's previous work on A Twist in My Story, using generally the same structure, similar sound, and lyrical content, offering nothing new Secondhand's sound or image. Some of the guitar parts even have the exact same chords and structure as previous songs.
Despite this, his voice does sound more powerful than ever, offering more emotion to the songs. If you enjoyed ATIMS, you'll enjoy this record equally or maybe a little more. The tracks are all nearly as catchy as previous breakthrough hit "Fall For You," making it clear that Secondhand Serenade can sure write a radio hit. Although, overall, the record brings nothing new to the table to garner more fan, boring the listener shortly, for this record has been heard before with Vesely's previous works.
I'll post more thoughts after giving Hear Me Now a few more spins. The record drops on August 3rd, and I'll have my official review up around that time.
