Valencia's releasing Dancing with a Ghost on October 12.
These guys put nothing but heart and soul and hard work into everything they do...and they do it without any drama.
They at least deserve your ears for a few minutes.
I'll admit that I was a huge supporter of the recently-released debut album, Whisper War, by The Cab.
Last year, I immediately fell in love with the demo for, "I'll Run" and felt that this was bound to be a refreshing new addition to my somewhat selective, not often admitted to, music collection.
With time, two albums tracks were released: "One of Those Nights" and "Risky Business".
I felt that "Risky Business" overpowered "One of Those Nights" in terms of likeability, but both led me to assume that the album would be very promising--Even the album sampler offered some good ear candy.
Now, it's understood that about every 10 years, music makes a big shift. It seems like that "boyband sound" is making a comeback and this will be its breakout year.
The general consensus was that the album could be summed up as "Nsync with guitars".
Now, I took that as meaning, a boyband sound against rock music...
Turns out, they actually meant NSYNC. The resemblance of Alex's voice to JC's is uncanny...I feel like I'm listening to JC sing for some sort of pop/emo rock band.
And I hate it.
That's right, I hate it.
I was never a fan of Nysnc...ever.
And now, what I thought was a potentially good album, has been tainted by the wrong influences.
It seems like this album turned out to be just like a trailer for a Mike Myers comedy.
They show you all the funny parts in the trailer--all taken out of context and put in a funny order--and then when you watch the movie, you manage only a few new giggles...while the rest, you remember and smile at from when you watched the trailer 12 times.
I've listened to the album about 5 times and found maybe 2 new good songs: This City is Contagious and Take My Hand.
Overall, I can do without most tracks.
Maybe it deserves a few more listens, but this wasn't the type of boyband comeback I was hoping for.
Nevertheless, these boys put on a damn good show, so I can't give up on them completely.
