I just want to thank Set Your Goals for making pop-punk for dudes. It really makes bands like The Maine and Sing It Loud look like caricatures of what the genre used to be. I don't feel weird listening to this album ... even at 26. Haven't been able to say that about a pop-punk release in a while.
The new Set Your Goals album reminds me of why I fell in love with pop-punk in the first place. It's loud, it's bratty, it's got a great message, and it's catchy-fast-pop-punk music. They may just very well be the best new pop-punk band making music right now, and this hopefully will be the album that catapults them to the forefront of a genre in massive need of an album just like this. Mike Green shines behind the boards as usual.
