Hail Doug Flutie to the Judges’ Bench at the Sixth Annual
Doug Flutie, iconic American football player and American Idol finalist Siobhan Magnus join producer Anthony J. Resta and percussion master Martin Vazquez on a supreme panel of judges for the Sixth Annual RJL Memorial Battle of the Bands on Sunday, January 30th at Showcase Live, Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
RJL Memorial Fund Battle of the Bands
Foxboro, January 25th, 2011 — Doug Flutie, Siobhan Magnus, Anthony J. Resta and Martin Vazquez will illuminate the panel of judges at the sixth annual Ryan J. Lariviere Memorial Fund charity battle of the bands. The fund was established to provide financial and professional assistance to original low-income musicians and distributes a prize package valued in excess of $10,000 amongst the participating bands.
Idol finalist Siobhan Magnus
In 2010, singer-songwriter Siobhan Magnus of Marstons Mills, Cape Cod, won the hearts of television viewers across America when she battled her way to sixth place on American Idol and became an overnight sensation. In addition to judging, Siobhan will be opening the show with her band “Lunar Valve.”
Football legend Doug Flutie
In 1984, America was introduced to the ubiquitous talents of Doug Flutie when he threw the renowned “Hail Mary touchdown pass” for Boston College , which is regarded as one of the greatest moments in American sports history. Doug played with the New England Patriots from 1996 - 1998 and returned in 2005 to successfully convert on a drop kick point, the final play of his career. Flutie played 21 seasons in the NFL, USFL, and CFL.
Doug is an accomplished drummer for the Flutie Brothers Band. Doug and Laurie Flutie established the thriving Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
Producer Anthony J Resta
Returning Judge, American record producer and musician Anthony J. Resta is the recipient of multiple RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) certified gold and multi-platinum awards in recognition for his innovative recording techniques and work on the soundtrack of the successful Twighlight films. Some of his high profile clients include Sir Elton John, Collective Soul, Blondie, Duran Duran and Sara Evans.
Percussionist Martin Vazquez
Martin Vazquez, internationally awarded percussionist and thirty year veteran music educator is a long time resident of Cape Cod , Massachusetts where he owns and operates M.V. Drums and is founder and artistic director of a not-for-profit facility the All-Star Academy . During his time as director of marching percussion products for Vater Percussion Inc., Vazquez established, field tested and lent his name to the MV line of drum sticks, mallets and accessories. Martin has been a Judge with the RJL Battle of the Bands since the battle began in 2003.

Rick and Marie Lariviere established The Ryan J. Lariviere Memorial Fund charity in 2003 following the loss of their only child Ryan, an avid 21-year-old musician. The Fund,
a registered 501(c) (3) charity, awards financial and promotional assistance to HUD qualifying, low income, original artists whose musical talents and ideologies reflect those of Ryan's. The prizes, which are in excess of $10,000, are distributed amongst the participating bands.
