Biography
Hunter deBlanc is going to be releasing an EP of five catchy, piano-based, pop-rock songs. The songs are heavily characterized by many of the pop-punk bands Hunter grew up listening in the late 90's and early 2000's (Ben Folds Five, Something Corporate), but also feature the stylings of newer indie and alternative acts (Jack's Mannequin, Matt & Kim, and fun.) Hunter has also derived influence from some more mainstream artists (The Fray, Maroon 5, One Republic.) Hunter also incorporates his "piano bar" influences with ballad-esque songs, paying homage to the piano greats (Billy Joel, Elton John, Randy Newman.) And while Hunter upholds a great respect for the classics, he still considers Andrew McMahon (Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin) to be his "new-age Billy Joel", and his biggest source of inspiration. Some of the songs feature brass instrumentation, adding an atmosphere to certain songs on the EP that transport the listener to a spectrum of areas and eras: ranging from The Rat Pack days, a jazzy New Orleans brass band on Bourbon Street, or just a hipster indie band with a horn section. Pre-production on all five tracks will be done by Paul Broussard and Jonathan Romein at Leap Studios in Lafayette, Louisiana. The five tracks will then be taken to C.J. Eiriksson (Music Producer/Mixer/Engineer/Writer) at Worlds End Producer Management. Eiriksson has an impressive discography under his belt, having worked on many big names in the music industry (U2, Goo Goo Dolls, Incubus, Phish, Live, Matchbox 20, Hoobastank.) Eiriksson is also known for working with up-and-coming indie artists similar to Hunter, and has also worked on some of the very albums that influenced Hunter to pursue his dreams of playing music (Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, The Rocket Summer.) Hunter has also obtained a guest feature from AJ Perdomo, a very popular singer of the band The Dangerous Summer. EP out in Spring 2014.
