Cartel will be releasing the acoustic album Bare Essentials on December 21st.
1. Say Anything (Else)
2. If I Fail
3. Faster Ride
4. Deep South
5. American Dreams
6. I Will Hide Myself Away
7. Only You
9. Run Away
10. Take Me With You
11. Minstrel's Prayer
However, the actual release is different than the way we initially intended. “Matter of Time” was supposed to be number eight, I believe?]Oh, yeah, so the label was like, “‘Matter of Time’ is the hit, man, we’ve got to move it up.” So it turned out to be fourth and it ruined our tuning order.
Last week I got the chance to see Cartel perform Chroma in its entirety (plus some surprise favorites). Hit The Lights, Team, and Driver Friendly were all out to support. Take a trip back to 2005 and check out our photos and show review in the replies!
After "If I Fail," Will said, "I'm pretty sure the St. Patty's day show was completely blown out just now. This is probably the most fun I've had in ten years; I'm not kidding."
We wanted to mention that while planning this year of Chroma shows, we decided that there is likely not much international touring in the cards left for the band, and these will be the band’s last UK shows. Though we would love to keep traveling the world and playing shows, it’s a wildly expensive endeavor to cart ourselves and our gear around the world, and we aren’t really banging out new tunes left and right which would necessitate us promoting it worldwide. While all this may be a bummer, that’s not to say the band is over by any means, we will still play shows in the US. We’re very grateful and excited that we get another shot at...
Cartel stated at the Chicago date of the Chroma tour that "Honestly" had just gone gold and that they will be selling a gold 7" in August with the song and an acoustic version. Congratulations to the band!
Due to industry wide vinyl delays, Cartel's Chroma will be delayed.
While we were hoping that this would be only a minor setback and that we would still have the records in time for the beginning of the Chroma tour, due to Record Store Day forcing record plants around the US (and the world) into operating beyond maximum capacity, we are now being told that our records won’t be getting sent out to us until mid-May at this point. We asked if there is ANY way for us to get the records before then, even if that meant paying extra out of our pockets, but we’ve been told there is no way to speed this up. We are extremely disappointed, but since it is something that is out of our control, we...
Update: Huge thank you to the band and everyone for hanging out. The chat has now ended.
We'd like to welcome our longtime friends Cartel to the website today to chat. The band recently released a bunch of acoustic versions from Chroma and will be heading out on tour very soon. Hit the replies to chat with the guys about their upcoming tour, plans for the future, and things like that. They'll have blue names and sassy personalities.
Today is the day we wrap up our exclusive video series with Cartel performing acoustic tracks from Chroma. If you hit the replies you can find the band performing "Honestly," and if you missed any of the other videos I highly recommend checking them out. The band also recorded some songs from their other albums during these sessions and I've heard those will be released, along with this series, in some fashion for purchase in the near future. Don't forget that the band are heading out on a tour to support the 10 year anniversary of this album and you should probably make sure you grab it on vinyl as well.
I mean, I know it's not Brand New finally putting Deja back on vinyl ... but I think that Cartel's acoustic session videos have been making Monday tolerable for the past few weeks. Today we've got a special performance of "Runaway" that the band knocks out of the park. You can find that in the replies. I think it's a testament to just how great these songs are that they translate this well once stripped down. Don't forget that the band are heading out on a tour to support the 10 year anniversary of this album and you should probably make sure you grab it on vinyl as well.
I've long had an obsession with "track ones" on an album. There's just something about setting the stage for an entire experience that has always captivated me. If you blow track one, it's sometimes impossible to recover. I've always felt like Cartel nailed it with "Say Anything (Else)" on Chroma, and today we're continuing our series of acoustic sessions with a performance of that very song. Don't forget that the band are heading out on a tour to support the 10 year anniversary of this album and you should probably make sure you grab it on vinyl as well. The video of this pretty damn awesome performance, and the band's upcoming tour dates, can be found in the replies.
