Motion City Soundtrack drummer Tony Thaxton has left the band. Claudio Rivera (Saves the Day) will be filling in.
Our beloved drummer Tony Thaxton has decided to leave the band. We really hate to see him go, but we fully support him in his choice and wish him the absolute best in the future. Tony’s contribution to the band over the last 11+ years was immeasurable, both on the stage and off. We’re really glad to have been able to share some truly amazing times with such a great drummer and friend. He will be missed.

Here are a few words from Tony:

“I’m afraid the time has come for me to move on from Motion City Soundtrack. This was an extremely, extremely hard decision to make,...

Our interview with Motion City Soundtrack can be found here.
From the InterviewThrough the last couple of years I’ve noticed this shift with all of my friends getting married and growing up. People are having kids, parents are becoming grandparents, people are dying. I hadn’t really noticed that being drunk or whatever for so many years. Then suddenly it was like, “Whoa, I graduated high school almost 20 years ago. That’s crazy. What happened? This is really fast.” I think I’ve just really been obsessed with that throughout the writing of this record in particular, so almost every song has some form of that in it, in one way or another.

An interview with Motion City Soundtrack and a download of "True Romance" can be found over at Billboard.com.
From the InterviewAfter finishing the album and giving multiple labels a preview of the rough mixes, Motion City Soundtrack decided to once again talk to Epitaph, the label that released the group's first three full-lengths including its debut album, "I Am the Movie," in 2003. "We finally had our meeting with Epitaph and were like, 'This is the place we should be. This is our family -- there's way too much history. Let's go back and put out a record together," says [Josh] Cain.

Motion City Soundtrack guitarist Josh Cain commented in one of our news threads earlier today about his band's new album, Go, leaking unfortunately early after the record was accidentally made available for public streaming on SoundCloud. You can read the statement below - we personally think the album is a real fun listen, so we suggest preordering the record.
From Josh CainSo "Go" leaked. I am not sure if this is bad or good thing. I really feel that the right thing to do is to wait till its released and enjoy the record the way we had planned for you. We worked really hard on this and are very proud of it.
