Combichrist have removed Blood on the Dance Floor from their upcoming tour.
As you’ve seen with all of our tours, when we select our support acts, we attempt to bring acts that will help introduce Combichrist to fans outside of our fanbase. This has worked well for us in the past, and it was in this spirit that we invited Blood On The Dance Floor to tour with us. Like all announcements, we knew that this decision would be met with some concern but we thought that the different styles would be the source of conversation. We were not aware of the controversy about their past behavior. It has been difficult to read everything posted today; our sole goal is to bring you a kick ass tour that...

Holy shit Red Scare is ten years old! That means it's been ten years since we met Toby Jeg, our dear friend who's been with us ever since! We have a lot of great memories together and it's certainly safe to say Red Scare was a critical label in TBR's journey. Celebrating a rad...

The festival will recreate the original May Farms campground aesthetic at the new location and all original tickets will be honored of course (and tickets are still available). Riot Fest has been denied a permit for the 3-day music event in Byers, Colorado.
Riot Fest, which features well known rock and punk acts such as Primus, The Cure, Wu-Tang Clan and Slayer, was scheduled for Sept. 19-21 at May Farms in Byers. It made its first appearance in the state last year, also at May Farms. The festival was expected to attract 17,000 people a day to Byers, a town of just over 1,000 residents located about 40 miles east of Denver.

It's not clear how organizers of the festival will deal with the thousands of fans who have purchased tickets to Riot Fest or whether they will try to find an alternate location in the state.

Riot Fest has posted the following response:... read more

Ryan Bort, writing for Esquire:
Summer festivals are the perfect analogy for how consumers interact with music in 2014. Our relationship with the industry is more fragmented and there are more pipelines for consumption than ever before. We have access to and are familiar with more artists than we can keep up with. They're on our friends' social media feeds, covered by the blogs we read, and we can listen, pass judgment, and move on to the next thing in an instant. We stream rather than buy. We listen to individual songs, not entire albums. We don't want to commit. Even if you claim to be a listen-to-the-whole-album purist, I've seen you bouncing around from one or two War on Drugs songs...

The Denver Post writes that Riot Fest's Denver stop (scheduled for Sept. 19-21) could be in trouble this year. People from the town where it's held complained at an open house / community forum about noise (one man said he had to close his windows!), drug use, traffic and other "nasty things."
The future of Riot Fest in Colorado, held for the first time in the state last year at May Farms near Byers, remains uncertain as Arapahoe County officials wrestle with whether to allow the event to continue this year. No decision on the event's future was made Tuesday evening.

Those who packed the American Legion Hall in this small, rural town 40 miles east of Denver to address the Arapahoe...

Faster Louder is reporting that Big Day Out, one of Australia’s biggest music festivals, will take 2015 off. In a separate piece, the publication noted that former Big Day Out promoter AJ Maddah talked last tweek on Twitter about how there was "a shortage of headliners on cycle this year" and "there was fuck all out there."
As reported yesterday, the Soundwave promoter sold his 50 percent stake of the festival back to the Austin-based C3 Presents, who bought into the Big Day Out in 2012. C3 have since confirmed that while the Big Day Out won’t happen in 2015, they plan to resurrect the event in the future. Maddah has welcomed C3 Presents’ full ownership of the Big Day Out, telling a fan...
