Hot Water Music's Jason Black (bass), former HWM tour manager Neltie Penman (vocals), Primitive Weapons' Arty Shepherd (guitars), Small Brown Bike's Jeff Gensterblum (drums) and Matt Kane (guitars) have combined to form a new band called UnWed. Clear is an experiment to explore all of the different writing styles in the band. It's rare when you have a band where every member is capable of writing and producing music. With each member controlling their own track, this recording enabled us to go down any path we chose in terms of style and sound.
“Every track also contains a melodic theme established in Clear's intro track Overture this common thread links all of...
Kevin Geyer (The Story So Far) and Dan Rose (Daybreaker) have officially announced their new project Elder Brother. Their debut record was recorded at The Panda Studios with Sam Pura in August. Virginia singer/songwriter Jim Ivins, after dropping one of my favorite EPs of 2011 (the solo acoustic work of Late Night Drive) and another great collection last year (the full-band effort, Everything We Wanted) is now turning his attention to a new band called Tomorrows. The band's first single, called "Heartbreakers" is straight ahead, riff-heavy rock 'n' roll, and you can hear it right here. The band will release their full-length debut album, called The Code Duello, in 2014.
Part of the problem is I can’t stay in one place long enough to properly listen to the mixes, approve them and have whatever changes made in a timely fashion. It’s quite infuriating and at this rate the record will not come out on time. So I’ve decided to delay the release until I can gather all of the pieces of this little endeavor and get them out at the same time.
Bruce Springsteenjust announced a new album called High Hopes for release January 14, 2014 via Columbia Records. Hit the replies to see the artwork and the track listing. This represents his 18th studio album and the follow-up to 2012's No. 1-charting Wrecking Ball. The rest of the album is composed of new or previously unreleased material.

Bruce Springsteenwill release a new single entitled "High Hopes" (a cover previously released on the ultra-rare Blood Brothers EP) on November 25, and there's reason to believe that it's from a new upcoming record, or possibly a sequel to the expansive Tracks collection of Springsteen B-sides and outtakes. Stay tuned.
Keenan acknowledges the band doesn't necessarily need to release new material to fill an arena – they took their dark, psychedelic show on the road as recently as earlier this year. "But as an artist you don't want to become a greatest hits version of yourself, either," he says. "You want to push the boundaries. You want to figure out how can you challenge yourself to discover something new, discover something different about yourself. What are your limitations? What avenues can you push and expand? That is life. I don't have any interest in coasting yet."
The newly-resurrected Fadeaway Records (Brand New, The Movielife) is teaming up with Enjoy the Ride Records to release Friends, compilation featuring over 30 previously unreleased songs. It will be available digitally and on limited edition 3xLP vinyl in February, with all proceeds going to cancer research. Details will be announced next month, but a teaser image with many familiar faces is in the replies. Who do you recognize?
If you’ve got a concept album, go ahead and record it. If you’re only interested in selling a little, be my guest. But if you want to penetrate the consciousness of a large group of people and grow the pie, an album isn’t working. Hell, it’s not even working as a revenue model! Labels are no longer in the record business, they’re in the star business. How to maximize the revenue of an individual or band in as many media as possible, in as many ways as possible. Yes, while you were bitching about piracy, your whole business model disappeared.
You put out these albums, and in almost every case, the...
