There’s so much music out there; there’s so much stuff that sounds like Haim or CHVRCHES or Vampire Weekend that I’m full. The thing I’m hungry for is not that. I turn on the rock station in L.A. and it sounds like Disney commercial music. And I’m confused by that. The dude from Foster the People was literally a jingle writer. No disrespect, but for me to make that stuff was kind of out of the question.
Mogwai will reissueCome on Die Young on June 16th. The reissue includes over an hour of newly added material (demos, early recordings, unreleased tracks, rarities, the 2001 Travels in Constants Vol. 12 EP, and more).
An Aphex Twin album from 1994, titled Caustic Window, that never saw official release cropped up on Discogs recently, with a seller asking for more than $13,000 for their test press. After negotiations between Rephlex Records and the seller, it appears that a complicated deal to distribute 500 downloads via Kickstarter for about $16 has been established, with the physical copy being sold on eBay after the completion of the campaign. The last album of entirely new music from Aphex Twin was released in 2001.
Gambles, an artist who released one of my favourite albums of last year with his debut Trust, has announced a new EP titled I Can't Keep Still When It Come To You. The release is due for April 28th and you can check out the lead track from it, titled "You Won't Remind Me", in the replies. The track was mixed by BOOTS who is more recently known for working on Beyoncé's latest album.
Matter's sophomore release, Teraphim, will be officially released on Tuesday, April 29th, 2014. Hot Topic will be pressing some soundtracks from Disney movies to vinyl picture discs. The first two are The Lion King and The Little Mermaid (!!!!), and they are expected to be in stores on April 29 and online on May 6 (and will cost $26.50). More may be coming in the future. Describing the origins of the project, Baldi told Exclaim!, "I woke up one morning hungover in Paris, which is where I usually live, and I just had a text on my phone that was like, 'Yo, wanna make a record together?' I was like, '...Okay!' And that was it. It sounded fun." Baldi said the process was "super easy" and that the songs will be released at some point.

Eagles In Drag released their debut EP today and on a limited run of 10” vinyl via EightyOneTwentyThree. The project, constructed by The Maine frontman John O’Callaghan initially back in 2012, includes his fellow bandmate from The Maine; Jared Monaco.
