Billboard reports that over 369,000 LPs were sold the week ending April 20, with Record Store Day on the 19th. That's a record high since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, topping last year's RSD-week sales of 244,000 and the previous record, a pre-Christmas 295,000 during a week in December 2013.
Ironically enough, the top-selling vinyl release of the week was Childish Gambino's "Because the Internet." Hopefully it came with a download code.
Per Billboard's data, it was also a great week for indie stores: mom-and-pop retailers moved 19.4 percent of physical albums sold during RSD week, another "likely" SoundScan-era record.

Vocalist Bryan Garris adds "It's been a long time coming and I'm extremely excited to show people what we've been working on. I'm very proud of this record and I hope it's the meanest thing in Louisville.”
