And then there are some bands that have something to say, and I'd say we fall into that category. So I think if someone could catch us playing "Paper Thin", then I'd feel satisfied that they gave us a fair chance.

“I think illegal downloading actually helped us 10 years ago because fans would spread the word to people who would later support the bands,” says Ericson. “We’ve been aggressive about getting our music out there where it can be heard hassle-free.”
Rise Records has signed Defeat The Low, a DIY post-hardcore quintet from Portland that features Rise Records owner Craig Ericson on rhythm guitar. Their debut LP will be released later this year; you can check out a single called "Turn To Hate" in the replies along with more information from a press release.

This one was a lot of pressure just to follow through with it and I guess not being scared and jump back to our first record, because I feel like that’s what a lot of people thought we were going to do.
"The song is about moving on after you breakup with someone and not letting the relationship define you," says vocalist/guitarist Zac Eisenstein. "That's the idea for the girl in this video, too. When she missed the train, she missed out. This song is for her."
