Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" has set the record for the longest running #1 song on Billboard's "R&B/Hip-Hop" chart at 12 weeks. The previous record was held by DJ Khaled's "I'm On One," which stayed at #1 for 11 weeks back in 2011.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" picks up a 12th week atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, setting the mark for the longest-running No. 1 rap song in the chart's history. DJ Khaled's "I'm On One," featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, previously held the record with 11 weeks in 2011 and is the only other rap song to post double-digit weeks at the top.
Shad has revealed that his new record, Flying Colours, is very close to being finished.
Inspirations for the disc include, "Kyle Mooney, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Eli Stone, Queen/Spadina, Grandview Calvary Baptist Church, my friends, my family, 30 Rock, We Are the City, Tolstoy, good weather, and the idea that trying is worth it even if you fail."
Killer Mike has revealed that he is currently working with El-P for R.A.P. Music II, the follow up to 2012's excellent R.A.P. Music. He also says he has enlisted beat maker Harry Fraud to help out with production for I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind IV. Mike says both albums should be "finished and ready for 2014."
