Just a friendly reminder to make sure you check us out on other social networks. We are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Last.fm, and Rdio. The AP.net staff can also be found elsewhere online -- this page has the goods. Show us some love.
Here are the albums that are in stores today. Pick up anything good? What do you recommend? If we missed anything, please add it to our calendar. We recommend Rdio or Spotify for album streams of new releases and check out our review section to see what our staff thought of the albums.
We got a lot of feedback on last week's AbsolutePunk Podcast episode and this week we tackle it all. We answer questions about if Warped Tour should take a year off to get their shit together, if in hindsight we think Apple's acquisition of Beats was worth it, thoughts on PVRIS, thoughts on DRM, the impossibility of answering a "three favorite albums of all time" question, and the economics of asking fans to buy stuff before getting to meet a band. We end the episode looking at the five apps we first install on a new computer and talk about The Maine's free tour and how we think that'll all work out. The episode can be streamed and/or downloaded below.
Foals recently stopped by BBC Radio 1 to perform an exclusive session show for just a handful of fans. You can now watch their explosive performance of "What Went Down" - the title track from their forthcoming album - in the replies.
We are writing this to inform you all that we will be moving forward without Arin IIejay as our drummer. Arin has been nothing but a positive energy and monster drummer for us over the past 4 years. We love the guy and always will. We are and will always be grateful to him for helping us to move forward through some very dark times. Creatively though, we felt we needed to move in a different direction. While we canít say more at this time, we are excited for the future and looking forward to sharing our plans soon with the greatest fans in the world. As always we appreciate your understanding and unwavering support.
Weíre happy to once again be a media partner for this yearís Riot Fest. We just wanted to remind everyone that the festival is happening soon in Denver (Aug. 28-30,) Chicago (Sept. 11-13) and Toronto (Sept. 19-20.) You can find the latest lineups for each date here and be sure to keep your eyes open for coverage on AP.net over the next few weeks too.
Members of Say Anything and Modern Baseball performed the national anthem at a minor-league baseball home game for the Boise Hawks (they're a farm team for the Colorado Rockies). There's a video in the replies.
Women's Audio Mission selects interns 2-3 times per year. It is an application process that is announced to WAM's membership. We choose 4-8 interns a year out of a pool of applicants from all over the country. NOTE: The selection process requires an onsite interview before we choose an intern applicant if the applicant is located in the Bay Area. Outside of the Bay Area, we require an interview via Skype.
An AP.net reader reached out to The Tribune of San Luis Obispo, CA to see if they had any new information about Steve Klein's (former New Found Glory guitarist) trial. The response says that they believe the trial will begin again in September.
Yes it's still ongoing, currently set to begin in September I believe. You aren't the first person from out of the area to contact me about the case wondering what's up. He hired our areas most expensive -- and busy -- attorney who's currently involved in a number of high-profile trials, so he's been successful in putting the matter off for quite some time. But the DA's Office is not letting the case go.
It's done. In the can. Finito! None of our other records have this much blood sweat and tears poured into them and you can hear it and most importantly you can feel it. Can't wait for y'all to hear it.
Lowe's body was found by a hiker Tuesday evening beneath the Arcola High Bridge near Somerset, Wisconsin. His vehicle had been found in a parking lot nearby in Minnesota. Authorities state that cause of death is consistent with a fall.
A Lot Like Birds' guitarist Michael Franzino was literally alone in the woods when he wrote his outstanding debut, Somewhere In The Sierras, under the pseudonym alone.. From the very first track - an imposing introduction whose cinematic quality is reinforced through Italian lyrics - the album sucks you into Franzino's reality, where everything is coloured by a Hannibal-esque intensity. Every song is a piece of the story, with the powerful "Close Without Closure" being one of the highlights of the album. It's dark, it's beautiful, it's defeating -- it's glorious. In his own words: "Great art comes from struggle, so I intentionally forced myself in a position to feel my emotions as...
Insult comic Lisa Lampanelli is releasing her sixth stand-up comedy special, Back to the Drawing Board, this Friday, July 24th, through Comedy Dynamics. Head to the replies to hear a bit from the album, in which Lampanelli explains - in great detail - why her ex-husband's nickname is Jimmy Big Balls. A regular roaster at Comedy Central's roasts and a former The Celebrity Apprentice contestant, the fearless comedian's racy material proves once again why she's often called the Queen of Mean.
