We post a lot of different features during the course of an average month on AbsolutePunk.net, therefore we thought it'd be best to recap some of our favorite editorials, songs, and features from the previous month on the first Saturday of new month. So head down to the replies below and re-visit (or check out for the first time) some of our best stuff from the month of July.

Summer's slipping away and the smell of autumn is emerging from the not-too-distant future. The month of August features a handful of fine albums that'll make the transition of seasons a little smoother. My five most anticipated albums for August range from a couple of pop-rock's finest to some of the best heavy albums of the year. The month is a good primer for the craziness that's going to be September (seriously, have you seen what's releasing that month?!?). Anyways, check out my list in the replies and feel free to discuss the albums you're anticipating next month.

Cynicism isn't wisdom, it's a lazy way to say that you've been burned. It seems, if anything, you'd be less certain after everything you ever learned.
Kelly DohertyI've fallen in love with Nana Grizol, so everyone should listen to them. Kodaline's In A Perfect World, Windings' It's Never Night and Halves' Boa Howl have also been on rotation.
Ryan GardnerOrange Is The New Black, Defeater, Pentimento, Captain We're Sinking, Birds In Row, Blacklisted, and Daytrader. Also the new Sara Bareilles record, The Blessed Unrest, is easily one of my favorite records of the year.
Steve AlcalaThe Last Of Us, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, The Reign Of Kindo and Daytrader for me. Also, Dead Letter Circus's...

This week on the Self Promotion Forum, I discovered the lovely Keeler. I'm super excited about them and despite the fact that they have only released two tracks (both of which are available for free on their Bandcamp.), they've already got the modern emo sound nailed. Their new single "Shoot The Jay", from their upcoming EP, sounds quite a bit like Snowing and their overall vibe is jazzy modern emo. Download their two songs and get stoked for their EP, Too Old To Believe In Ghosts, which will be released in September. Interested in being a part of the Self-Promotion Spotlight? It's easy, just sign up for an AbsolutePunk.net account and post in the Self-Promotion forum.

Staying in on a weekend often has negative connotations, but who doesn't enjoy time to themselves once in a while with some good tunes and fine wine (or beer!)? Some of my favourite albums began to resonate with me on a deeper level when I was absorbed by the music coming out of my headphones the entire night. And tonight is precisely one of those nights: I'm surrounded with incredible new music by The Civil Wars, Eric & Magill and Typhoon, as well as some delicious Cabernet Merlot, and I couldn't be happier. So if you're out there also doing nothing other than enjoying the company of some great music, then come say hello and share those tunes!

The ninth episode of the AbsolutePunk.net Podcast is now available for your enjoyment. In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Touché Amoré's Jeremy Bolm. I could talk with Jeremy all day about music and records and we almost did, as we discussed the inspiration behind the artwork of the band's upcoming new album, Is Survived By, his record label Secret Voice, and the hobby of collecting vinyl.
