Say Anything's acoustic version of "Belt" was one of the first exclusive downloads we ever had on this website -- over a decade ago now -- oh ECA Records, how I remember thee. It's going to be making its remastered appearance on the Doghouse Records' boxset release and you can stream it in the replies if you've never heard it before.

Say Anything have announced a special ... Is A Real Boy boxset on Doghouse Records.

Say Anything frontman, Max Bemis, was caught on video puking on stage last night ... by TMZ. Weird.
Lead singer Max Bemis was towards the end of the set at the House of Blues in West Hollywood when he projectile vomited without warning. It's unclear why ... but there was alcohol on stage so it ain't that hard to read between the lines.
Jason Tate on 12/23/14 - 01:53 PM
Doghouse Records are looking for any photos or video you may have of Say Anything during the Is a Real Boy... era. You can send an email here if you have anything that may work to discuss details.

Max Bemis of Say Anything participated in Noisey's 'Rank Your Records,' naming ...Is A Real Boy his favorite and Anarchy, My Dear his least favorite.
I sacrificed so muchóquite the few emotions, body parts. And I can hear that and itís uncomfortable. That being said, I think itís number one is because I donít think when people say they like it, that itís just nostalgia. I think thereís a part of it thatís nostalgia, which is cool, because I have that for all my favorite records. But for me, Iím a 30-year-old, average, semi-hipster. Literally, Iím probably the Noisey target demographic. But my favorite record of all time is Saves The Dayís Through Being Cool. And I refuse, no matter what...

Looks like Max Bemis and the Painful Splits will be recording an acoustic version of Is a Real Boy for the upcoming anniversary tour. But don't worry, he's not through being cool just yet.

Sure seems like Max Bemis is through being cool.

Max Bemis of Say Anything was featured on AV Club's "Hatesong" to talk about Nirvana's "Rape Me."
Thatís just how it came across to me. Itís the sort of baseline assumptions that one can make. Itís sort of like MileyóIím going to get a lot of shit for thisóbut itís just like what Miley Cyrus is doing right now. We donít really know whatís in her head or why sheís doing this. But we can assume sheís trying to grow up and expand her image and no longer be a teeny-bopper icon, and sheís trying to be dangerous and sexy and hip. So thatís our assumption that may be miles from whatever sheís actually thinking about.

Read a new interview with Say Anything's Max Bemis on Noisey.
I think it requires more work, but it always should have required more work. There was a brief period of time around a century long when the music industry got involved and figured out how to cater to the laziness of musicians. And we are innately lazy because weíre artists. There are people who work nine to five jobs thanklessly and donít complain about it ever, and then thereís musicians, a lot of whom are receiving these giant advances from multi-conglomerate companies and essentially getting smoke blown up their ass and they feel like theyíre the new Beatles, or at least trying to achieve that.

Max Bemis of Say Anything talks to that "stupid website with Satan as its figurehead" about Hebrews.
And, eventually, it drove me to drop out of college and pursue music. "Admit It!!!" it was written around 2002, after the first Strokes record came out. This is pre-Vampire Weekend, it's pre-fun. and stuff like that. It was literally the beginnings of the "hipster." It was right then, people were just starting to move to Brooklyn to reclaim it and gentrify it. But I feel like I skirt that lineóif you look at me, I could just be any other 30-year-old dude walking around in Greenpoint and my friends and tastes and sense of humor could just put me directly into what could be considered...

We have a pretty rad video exclusive today featuring Max Bemis talking about some of the songs on Say Anything's latest album, Hebrews. In the replies, you can check out Bemis going in-depth about "Kall Me Kubrick", "My Greatest Fear Is Splendid" and the title track. If you read my review of the album, you may recall that these three tracks are some of the most intense and unique ones on the entire album. The band is currently on tour with The Front Bottoms, The So So Glos, and You Blew It!.
