One of the most underrated voices to emerge from the scene is back. David Cook (ex-My Favorite Highway) has released a new song under the group The Spacies. Hit the replies to stream their newest song, "Out Of Time."
This week's Free Music Wednesday showcases an innovator in the world of yoga, meditation, and the healing arts. East Forest’s Trevor Oswalt has created a new type of aural experience using music as a “technology,” combining modern scientific sound healing knowledge with the organic field recordings of people and places he encounters along the way — a way that can intentionally facilitate a heightened odyssey of body, mind, and spirit.
Reminiscent of Sigur Rós, Balmorhea, Ólafur Arnalds or The Album Leaf, his music weaves ethereal soundscapes from his vintage keys, intimate vocals, and original field recordings. Listen to the blissful, gentle and uplifting Prana EP, and download...

Ryan Rockwell, best known as the frontman for pop-punk act Mixtapes, is excited to independently release a brand-new album today called I Hate How Normal I've Become. If all goes well, I'll be seeing Pennsylvania's poppy surf rockers Wish Listtonight. After their own set, they'll be putting aside their lo-fi Weezer aesthetic to play as Infinity Crush's full band. My personal highlight is "Always On A Sunday," but fans of Wavves will probably want to give the whole thing a listen. Be sure to share any free (legal) music you may have made or stumbled across in the replies as well!
After talking with staff over the past few weeks, we realized that the "free music friday" posts we were doing weren't really working and hadn't become what we thought the feature could be when we started it all those years ago. So, we're sunsetting it and will be trying out some new features throughout the week instead. Hmmm, how about: free music wednesday! Basically, the idea is that a staff member will find one song/album/whatever that's available for free and write a little something about it on the homepage. That thread will then be open to anyone else that would like to share free (legal!) music with other listeners. Your band, your friends' band, whatever. And, on that note: this...
Another up and coming band to keep your eye on, The Living Statues recently released their new EP, Knockin', for free. Head to the replies to give it a listen and if you dig what you hear, head over to the band's site to download it for free!
