Run the Jewels' sophomore album RTJ2 came with a preorder package that promised the album would be remixed entirely with cat noises if it was reached. A fan started a kickstarter to reach the $40,000 price tage, and El-P promised to follow through with the project if it was reached, with the proceeds going to charity. Now, Zola Jesus, Danny Brown's in-house producer Skywlkr, and Just Blaze have all promised to contribute production as well. Additionally, Just Blaze will release all the drum kits he used between 2001 and 2005 for free if the goal is reached.

After more than a decade of false starts and teases, Dr. Dre's perpetually delayed Detox has apparently been renamed. The news comes from an Aftermath producer who says it was changed about two years ago, but declines to actually disclose the new title.

An unfinished Drake song has leaked onto the internet with the title "Views From The 6," which is also the name of his reported upcoming album. It features an unknown rapper by the name of E Batt, and while it was speculated that he was the one behind the leak, he has since come out and said it wasn't him. You can hear the track over at Stereogum, though I wouldn't expect it to be up for long.
Chicago's Lil Bibby has revealed that he will be releasing his highly anticipated new mixtape, Free Crack II, on August 29th. In what might be my favorite piece of tour novelties ever, Drake and Lil Waynehave released a Capcom-developed app based on Street Fighter called "DvsLW" to accompany their upcoming "Drake VS. Lil Wayne Tour." The app will apparently allow the crowd at the tour to "power up" the rappers during a rap battle portion of the concert by button mashing. They're also including trading cards featuring the rappers in the tours VIP packages.
According to a new interview with Complex, Kendrick Lamar has been hard at work on his forthcoming album, stating that he has around 30-40 songs done. The rapper expects to drop the project before the end of the year, and says he has been working with Dr. Dre, among others.
But now that Kendrick, 27, is a hysteria-inducing star, the world is waiting to see if he can deliver twice. Expectations are high. After good kid, good simply won’t be good enough.
