According to Entertainment Weekly, not only is the new Zach Braff helmed movie, Wish I Was Here, good, but it also features new music from Bon Iver and The Shins' frontman James Mercer.
“In this case, it was unique because we sent [music supervisor] Mary Ramos to Wisconsin to show the movie to Bon Iver, and they wrote a song pretty much on the spot,” Braff said. “She sat there in Wisconsin while they wrote a song.”
We're going to be trying out something a little different this year and featuring staff film reviews for the first time. To get things started, I have reviews up for Her and Lone Survivor, with ones for The Past and Jack Ryan coming later this week. The track listing for The Great Gatsby soundtrack is in the replies. My excitement for a movie about one of my favorite books, is dead.
The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to ‘Moulin Rouge!’ made it a masterpiece, and ‘Romeo + Juliet’s’ score wasn’t just in the background; the music became a character. This film’s vision and direction has all the makings of an epic experience,” JAY Z said in a previous statement.
