The LA Times is reporting that House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood will be torn down to make room for more hotels and condos. Pretty sure this is the first place I saw Something Corporate, Gym Class Heroes, The Juliana Theory, and countless other bands during my collegiate stint in California.

Combichrist have removed Blood on the Dance Floor from their upcoming tour.
As you’ve seen with all of our tours, when we select our support acts, we attempt to bring acts that will help introduce Combichrist to fans outside of our fanbase. Like all announcements, we knew that this decision would be met with some concern but we thought that the different styles would be the source of conversation. We were not aware of the controversy about their past behavior. It has been difficult to read everything posted today; our sole goal is to bring you a kick ass tour that...

The festival will recreate the original May Farms campground aesthetic at the new location and all original tickets will be honored of course (and tickets are still available). Riot Fest has been denied a permit for the 3-day music event in Byers, Colorado.
Riot Fest, which features well known rock and punk acts such as Primus, The Cure, Wu-Tang Clan and Slayer, was scheduled for Sept. 19-21 at May Farms in Byers. It made its first appearance in the state last year, also at May Farms. The festival was expected to attract 17,000 people a day to Byers, a town of just over 1,000 residents located about 40 miles east of Denver.

It's not clear how organizers of the festival will deal with the thousands of fans who have purchased tickets to Riot Fest or whether they will try to find an alternate location in the state.

Riot Fest has posted the following response:... read more

Ryan Bort, writing for Esquire:
Summer festivals are the perfect analogy for how consumers interact with music in 2014. Our relationship with the industry is more fragmented and there are more pipelines for consumption than ever before. We have access to and are familiar with more artists than we can keep up with. They're on our friends' social media feeds, covered by the blogs we read, and we can listen, pass judgment, and move on to the next thing in an instant. We stream rather than buy. We listen to individual songs, not entire albums. We don't want to commit. Even if you claim to be a listen-to-the-whole-album purist, I've seen you bouncing around from one or two War on Drugs songs...
