So as everyone already knows, RX Bandits are returning for their ten year anniversary of The Resignation. With the tour, the guys are releasing a covers EP and we're lucky enough to bring you the band's cover of Weezer's "Surf Wax America" from their iconic, Blue Album. Jump to the replies to give it a listen and peep what guitarist Steve Choi had to say about the cover below.
Ah Weezer, ubiquitous in mainstream rock music since all of us children of the 80's were teenagers. Our fans take us more seriously than we like to take ourselves so we wanted to do an easy, poppy song to show our musical range. All the cool kids like to claim Pinkerton, and I love that record too, but the Blue...
Aside from the fact that this is Tigers Jaw’s final tour for who knows how long, I think the diversity of this tour is what makes it stand out. Dad Punchers loud version of indie-rock fits very well with Tigers Jaw’s indie influence meets old-fashioned emo/pop-punk style. Sainthood Reps old-school distortion-using jams bring another flavor to the menu, while Pianos Become The Teeth emotion-infused hardcore tears apart the stage. Even though Tigers Jaw are calling it quits for now, their legacy won’t be left in the dark, as they’ve paved the way for many more bands to...
It seems as though Drive Like Jehu will be playing a reunion set at The Fest this year. Check out a teaser image in the replies. We have reached out to Fest for official confirmation, so we'll update this post with news if we hear anything. Just saying, this would come alongside a Knapsack appearance as well. All of our Fest 12 coverage is here.
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you check us out on other social networks. We are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Last.fm, and Rdio. The AP.net staff can also be found elsewhere online, this post highlights where. Show us some love.
This appears to be pretty old, but it's Friday, so why not? Hit the replies to hear a demo version of Dance Gavin Dance's "Uneasy Hearts Weigh The Most" featuring Sleeping With Siren's Kellin Quinn on vocals. The video apparently comes from their singer search between Downtown Battle Mountain and Dance Gavin Dance.
The quirkiness of the records transferred wonderfully to the live environment. People were stagediving, crowd surfing, running up on stage, spilling drinks, belting their lungs out. Handclaps and stomping galore occurred throughout the set. It was a mad house in a tiny room. Chaos of an environment mixed with the simplicity of the music. An unexpected match made in heaven? Not sure – but it worked. From the haunting ending of “Swimming Pool” through The Front Bottom’s true masterpiece that is “Twin Sized Mattress” and the song that probably made many of us fall in love with...
We are. We definitely are. Not in that super-active way where we’re setting dates and making decisions, but we’re accumulating stuff and writing. Our hope is to maybe get something new, I don’t know how much, to bring to Fest. If we don’t pull that off then next year we’ll put out something bigger. I don’t know if we’re going to do a full-length next or if we’re maybe going to do something smaller. I’m not sure.
The second episode of the AbsolutePunk.net Podcast is now available for your listening pleasure. This episode features the second of the three conversations with Say Anything's Max Bemis. This upcoming weekend will kick off the 19th year of the Vans Warped Tour and we know you're just as excited to be attending the punk rock summer camp as we are. We've been compiling our "Warped 30" list for a while now so that you can use it as a cheat sheet on which artists you absolutely must see. So check out our picks in the replies and fret no more about the 2013 Vans Warped Tour.
Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie) and Brett Nelson (Built To Spill) are teaming up to remake Death Cab For Cutie songs into synth pop versions. On July 2, a digital single will be released collecting synth pop remakes of "Soul Meets Body" (off 2005's Plans) and "Champagne From a Paper Cup" (off 1998's Something About Airplanes). The two songs will also be pressed to colored 7" vinyl following the digital release.
