Brody Dalle has posted a blog on Facebook talking about J.Lo and Iggy Azalea's new song "Booty." The full blog is in the replies.
JLo and Iggy may feel empowered by their bodies and thatís fine, their bodies ARE powerful, beautiful and life giving. But they are so much more than just their bodies. They may feel that using their bodies is the only currency they have in order to stay popular and on the top. It has become a contest of who gets the most hits on youtube and vevo and who can take it the furthest, not about the quality of their songs and the messages they are sending. And why? To make lots of money and to line the pockets of the big machines, regardless of who that affects.

Joe Steinhardt of Don Giovanni Records has posted a message on Facebook challenging Recess Records and Asian Man Records to speak up about their association with The Queers and Screeching Weasel after multiple incidents over the years.
Forget the Ice Bucket Challenge. I challenge two labels, Recess Records and Asian Man Records to completely disassociate with sexist, racist, and homophobic punk bands like The Queers and Screeching Weasel. It is ridiculous that anyone legitimate would be working with them to release their music after the long-term pattern (note: not isolated incidents) of sexist, racist, and homophobic crap they spew online and offline. Mike and Todd, you can do better....

ABC News is reporting that Isis, the band, has had to change the name of their Facebook page (to Isis the band) to avoid being confused with the that other ISIS.
"Fans have emailed us that they're reluctant to wear our T-shirts now and we've also gotten some off-color comments," Harris said.

Broadway have parted ways with Uprising Records. They will be releasing a new single, "Volcano Jack," on Friday.
Hey guys, so lets cut to the chase. We're here today to announce our departure from Uprising Records! We've have a long and interesting relationship with them for five years now, but the Broadway boys are finally stepping out on their own and into the wild.

Now to quell any worries, this will not affect our new album in anyway! In fact our entire recording process for this 3rd album has been independent. Funded by us, for you! We are by no means, rich fellows, or even wealthy. In fact we're probably just above the poverty line. We work at pizza joints, pawn shops etc. We...

Sumerian Records' CEO, Ash Avildsen, has responded to the post made earlier from Upon a Burning Body.
I woke up to a ton of missed calls and just saw all this stuff about Danny Leal of UABB posing as that he's been abducted or kidnapped. My phone hasn't stopped ringing since. As a child, we all learn the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and it sticks within our consciousness for a reason. I do not condone this type of publicity stunt. This was done behind my back and I am not OK with it. In my eyes, there's never a time to use the possibility of real-life abduction, injury or murder of someone you care about to promote anything, especially an album. If you need to resort to that, then you...

Robin from Fleet Foxes has posted an update about the band's current status.
For anyone who's curious, this is a short Fleet Foxes update - been a while! So, after the last round of touring, I decided to go back to school. I never got an undergraduate degree, and this felt like the right time to both see what that was about and to try something new after a while in the touring / recording lifestyle. I moved to New York and enrolled at Columbia, and I've mostly been doing that, but I'm working on songs and excited for whatever happens next musically, even if it's down the line. Hope all is well out there.

Facebook has purchased Oculus Rift for $2 billion.
The acquisition of Oculus seemingly comes out of nowhere: the company just demoed its most recent version of the Oculus Rift development kit at GDC 2014 to much fanfare. Oculus has been steadily moving towards a consumer product, and Facebook's resources can only help to push that mission along. "Facebook understands the potential for VR," the Oculus team wrote in its own blog post announcing the deal. "Mark and his team share our vision for virtual realityís potential to transform the way we learn, share, play, and communicate. Facebook is a company that believes that anything is possible with the right group of people, and we couldnít...

Interested in how Facebook sees music for the next few years? This interview with employee Ime Archibong gives a lot of insight.
For music specifically -- I know I'm one of the "music" guys at Facebook, I've been tremendously bullish on it. Music, [as I said], is a form of communication. Facebook is in the business of facilitating communication between two people. There's no reason why this overlap isn't going to continue happening. It's been happening for the last decade on the platform. If anything, the products, the way it shows up, the way it actually happens has continued to grow up and evolve as a business and will continue, to use a business term, "up and to the right." So I'm...

Steve Rennie, manager of the band Incubus, has ended his tenure with the band.
After 16 amazing years, my tenure as manager of Incubus has ended. It has been my honor and privilege to have served as manager and mentor to Brandon, Mike, Jose, Chris, Ben, and Alex. I want to thank each of them for allowing me to be a part of their rock n roll dream. It's been an amazing ride, the memories of which, I will treasure forever. I wish the guys good luck and success in all that they do in the future.

I wanted to also acknowledge and say thank you to the thousands of Incubus fans around the world who I've had the chance to meet and interact with over the last 16 years. Your support and love...

Questlove has posted a statement on Facebook apologizing for racist Instagrams that were posted over the weekend.
look. i'm a human being and dumber yet, i'm a public figure. if you're lucky enough to be either of the aforementioned, then not only should one stay clear of saying or writing hurtful things, one should actively work against feeling comfortable, thinking hurtful thoughts. given that black culture consistently finds itself at the butt end of so many offensive "outsider" jokes, I should be way, way more sensitive (after all, who's zooming who). I for one, should never allow my cultural bias to take precedence over my "examined life" (clunkers be damned). i know the whole...

CHVRCHES (part of this year's Absolute 100) released one of my favorite albums of the year earlier this week and that got me to go "like" them on Facebook. This led me to seeing a note the band just posted asking people to stop sending them disgusting and sexist messages on their Facebook page. It disturbs me that anyone would have to ask people, who are apparently using their real names if they're on Facebook, to not act like complete morons. End rant: pick up the album (or stream it on Rdio). It's damn good.

Hey what's up guys. Misha here just wanting to clear up a few things. We actually have a page administrator that runs the Facebook in our off time but it seems he got a little overzealous in that last post.

With the Punches don't think you should order vinyl from Hang Tight Records.
We keep getting reports of people ordering "Keep It Going" and "It's Not The End Of The World" on vinyl from Hang Tight Records and never getting them. We have tried to contact them and rectify the situation but it appears they are no longer answering messages from us. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT ORDER OUR RECORDS FROM THEM. Again we apologize to anyone who may have lost money, from this.
