PropertyOfZack has a Friday Discussion today about the first CDs their staff members purchased. In case you were wondering, Zack Zarrillo first spent his money on Michelle Branch's The Spirit Room. Reveal the first album you purchased in the replies and reminisce upon a time when the $18 compact disc was the norm.
When I was younger I did. I was like, “Oh. Wow. Some people are harsh.” I’m really excited for this whole album to come out because we released one song out of sixteen and that one song – of course there are going to be people that compare me to my dad and to Green Day. Yeah, our influences include Green Day. It makes sense; I grew up listening to my dad. So I grew up listening to the same stuff he listened to. What I just want people to know is that some people go to work with their dads and some people go fishing...

Actually. I say yeah, we’re going to take some time off, but what will happen every single time we say we’re going to take some time off, is another tour comes along. We love touring so much that we end up taking it. Jesse and I, actually in the last two days, have been working on a new song. When we just had a couple of weeks off, Chris was working on some songs. So we’ve actually already started working on new music, we just figured we’d go ahead and get a jump start on it...

If that headline seems a little hefty, that's because it is. PropertyOfZack has an interview up with Jonny Craig today where they discuss Craig's sobriety, why he tried out for The Voice, and the fact that some fans who he ripped off in the MacBook scandal still support him. Great job, fans.
You’ve had your ups and downs. Do you feel like you have to build things back up?
I definitely have ride or die fans that still love me. Even people that got ripped off. There are a couple people I ripped off in the Macbook thing, and they still tweet at me all the time. Some of them donated to my campaign.
We have an EP coming out on Equal Vision Records soon. It’s like three songs. He’s happy and I’m really happy with it. When we started playing together again, it came about by me sending him demo songs. Since I’ve been home I’ve just been in the basement writing music. Ideas just keep pouring out. Some of them don’t sound Reggie enough to be Reggie, so I’d send them to Matt. He’d send them back with vocals that would blow me away.
PropertyOfZack recently sat down with Dave Elkins (Mae; Schematic) and they talked about the upcoming Destination: Beautiful Tour and more.
I do know that if we’re going to do Destination: Beautiful, more people know Mae for The Everglow than Destination: Beautiful so it would not make sense to do DB and not do The Everglow. So in 2015 we’d have to re-approach that again. We’ve sat across a table over the last several weeks and said, “Well hey, if we did this again what would we want it to look and feel like?” All we know is that when we get together, and we plug in and we play, that’s what feels right. All the business that happens in the middle of it, it just feels right. When you get...
