Sid Vicious' (Sex Pistols) is one of the few in the running for a memorial plaque in Tunbridge Wells and the locals are not happy about it.
Peter Campbell, 49, said: "Nobody wants to be reminded that Sid Vicious lived here - he was a vile man who died as he lived, surrounded by filth and misery. "He hardly has anything good to be said about him and it would be best is his name was scattered to the four winds."

Tshepo Mokoena, writing for the Guardian, asks if we should have a problem with Beyonce's "Drunk in Love" due to the domestic violence portions.
There was a degree of criticism from blogs and the mainstream media around the time of the album's release, although much of the dust from that seemed to have settled up until Sunday night's Grammy performance. But why? On a record that critics lauded as Beyonce's most feminist to date, and one she proudly dubs her most honest so far, it's strange to see two major stars shoehorn a domestic violence reference into a track that otherwise celebrates love and all the glory of marital hook-ups. Plus, it's annoying to have a few lines detract from...

In the newest issue of NME, Johnny Marr says that he can't think of "anything more opposite to punk rock than Spotify" and then lays into Haim for dedicating a song to British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Itís really simple: they made themselves look like idiots. Itís ridiculous. No-one put a gun to their head. The Conservatives tried to do the same thing with The Smiths, to re-appropriate us in a false way, to be cool by association.

The Guardian have run an interesting article about what happens when the sins of an artist are so great that they negate their art. Many arguments have been had in these forums about if someone's ego or sexism or lack of releasing their dvd or just general douchebaggery is enough to lose fans and negate the music they release -- but the pure evil of Ian Watkin's has taken this debate to a whole new level.
In fact, our cultural life is replete with art made by those whose personal lives bear little scrutiny. In the Nazi corner alone, we have the film-maker Leni Riefenstahl, the poet Ezra Pound and the philosopher Martin Heidegger, none of whom have been "decanonised", despite critical...
